Job description
We are looking for a Director of Provider Network Development to join our team! You'll be responsible for expanding our primary care network throughout Illinois (Chicago, the surrounding metro area, and into Southern Illinois) while contributing to the continued refinement of our central growth platform. Experienced in both creating and executing growth strategies, you will be comfortable driving provider growth, bringing a well-established network of physician relationships, deep knowledge of the local healthcare community, and the desire to win! Reporting to the Senior Director of Network Development, this is an opportunity for someone who is excited by building and passionate about solving tough problems with high impact.
What You'll Do
As Director of Provider Network Development at Diverge, you will be accountable for supporting the ongoing refinement of our in-market growth aligned with our market health plan partners to target and contract with primary care practices that support the Medicaid population, as well as the potential to support other lines of business as applicable.. Delivering this work, you will balance being hands on with initiating, negotiating, and closing contracts with independent primary care practices, while advancing partnership discussions with aggregating provider entities in the market (i.e., FQHCs, System CINs, etc.). You will drive value prop refinement, clearly articulating the differentiation of the Diverge Health model and its benefits and how it will be operationalized. The outcome will be a seamless transition of new partnerships into our network, and consistent delivery of our market growth goals.
Key Areas You'll Add Value:
- As an individual contributor, you will be accountable for driving the growth of our Illinois market physician partners and will carry an individual growth expectation.
- Primary care provider partnership growth with practices and aggregating provider entities that have higher density of Medicaid panels: identify, target, and cultivate relationships with independent primary care practices to expand our provider network, aligned to our health plan partner goals and areas of desired focus.
- Contract negotiation: initiate, negotiate, and finalize contracts with primary care practices, ensuring mutually beneficial terms and adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Collaboration with operations and population health teams: partner with our operations and population health teams to ensure a smooth onboarding process for new providers, aligning messaging and ensuring that expectations match the experience.
- Data exchange facilitation: oversee the data exchange process between our organization and partner practices to support informed decision-making and seamless patient care coordination.
- Transition support: assist in the transition of relationships to our market field teams, providing essential guidance and support to maintain and grow partnerships.
- Manage and conduct effective and efficient contract negotiations, and develop strategies, tactics, and methods for specific network development initiatives.
- Own the successful implementation and execution of short- and long-term growth strategy plans within the market, including plans based on practice size, geography, and alignment with our patient support model that adhere to deadlines.
- Provide an excellent customer experience to both new provider leads and existing network providers.
- Focus on developing strategic partnerships with FQHCs and other large primary care provider employers.
What You Bring
- Possess a network of well-established relationships within the primary care and broader physician community locally.
- Demonstrated success in consistently achieving growth and expansion targets in the healthcare industry, with a preference for a focus on the medical practice environment.
- At least 5+ years of relevant experience in healthcare network development or related growth-focused roles.
- Ability to regularly commute to physician offices, with a personal vehicle, up-to-date car insurance, and a valid driver's license.
- Comfortable in outside sales and networking to build and nurture professional relationships.
- Familiarity with healthcare economics, specifically clearly communicating economics in the context of negotiating and closing contracts.
- Experience utilizing Salesforce strongly preferred, with a minimum of comfort using a CRM tool to track activity. Comfort with data, particularly transparency in pipeline activity reporting; clear success in a metric-oriented environment.
Personal Characteristics
- Equally empathetic and objective, humble and highly conscientious; a teammate that inspires and motivates others.
- Comfort with uncertainty; self-motivated and directed; can manage effectively in high-growth, rapidly evolving environments.
- A problem solver, able to think critically and strategically while being hands on in driving work; proactively identifies and resolves risks to execution and delivery.
- Strong representation of the company's mission, vision, and values across all dimensions of internal and external interactions.
- Strength in authentically connecting with people from all walks of life with empathy and humility.
- Possesses exceptional organizational skills and excels in clear, effective communication with key stakeholders.
This is a full-time, exempt, salaried position. Commensurate on candidate experience, the expected base salary range for this role is $150,000-$160,000.
