ITA is seeking a Junior Project Controls Analyst to join the team supporting our Headquarters location in Newport News, Virginia.
Responsibilities
The Junior Project Controls Analyst supports financial, contractual, and operational oversight of government programs by assisting with project planning, budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting. Working closely with Program Managers, Finance, and Contracts, this role helps ensure projects are executed within budget, meet contractual requirements, and provide accurate financial and performance reporting.
Project Controls & Financial Support
  • Supports Program Managers with project planning, budgeting, estimates at completion, and financial performance monitoring.
  • Assists in tracking project costs, labor utilization, funding, and expenditures against established budgets.
  • Prepares recurring financial reports, cost analyses, and project performance metrics.
  • Monitors project burn rates and identifies potential cost or schedule variances.
  • Assists with revenue forecasting and monthly financial projections.

Deltek Costpoint Administration
  • Utilizes Deltek Costpoint to review project financial data, labor charges, budgets, and funding.
  • Assists with project setup, modifications, labor category updates, and project maintenance within Costpoint.
  • Supports reconciliation of project financial information and validates data accuracy.
  • Generates standard and ad hoc Costpoint reports for project and executive leadership.

Government Contract Support
  • Monitors contract funding, ceilings, closeouts, and periods of performance.
  • Assists in reviewing contract modifications and ensuring project data aligns with contractual requirements.
  • Supports tracking of contract deliverables, labor hours, and funding status.
  • Coordinates with Contracts and Finance to ensure accurate project records.

Reporting & Analysis
  • Develops and maintain project dashboards, spreadsheets, and status reports.
  • Performs variance analysis to identify trends and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assists in preparing executive reports and monthly project reviews.
  • Supports data collection for financial audits and customer reporting requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partners with Program Managers, Finance, Contracts, Human Resources, and Business Operations to support successful project execution.
  • Responds to requests for project financial information and reporting.
  • Assists with special projects, process improvements, and financial analysis initiatives.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Project Management, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 1-3 years of experience supporting project controls, finance, accounting, or government programs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and basic financial analysis.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using Deltek Costpoint highly preferred,
  • Experience supporting federal government contracts.
  • Familiarity with contract types including Firm-Fixed-Price (FFP), Cost-Plus, and Time-and-Materials (T&M).
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI, Excel dashboards, or financial reporting tools.
  • Basic understanding of project scheduling or earned value management concepts.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance, if required.

Pay range for this position is $44,000 - $65,000 annually
This position has a broad compensation range due to the complexities of government contracting, including contract pricing, labor category requirements, funding parameters, and varying levels of candidate experience and qualifications.
