Director of Engineering
(Direct Hire for our client)


 

Location: Oregon | On-site
Compensation: $160K–$200K | Travel: Up to 10%

We are conducting a search for a Director of Engineering with our client - a small, technically sophisticated Oregon-based company developing highly customized technology products spanning hardware and software.

This is a hands-on engineering leadership role overseeing a multidisciplinary team while remaining engaged in technical direction and product development. The Director will help guide products from early development through manufacturing and will partner closely with other functions across the organization.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering team
  • Provide technical direction across electrical/electronics and software disciplines
  • Guide product development from concept through manufacturing
  • Manage engineering projects, priorities, and resources
  • Oversee verification, validation, and engineering processes
  • Drive sound configuration and development practices
  • Partner cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, program management, and senior leadership
 

Ideal background:

  • 10+ years of engineering experience, including leadership responsibility
  • Strong electrical/electronics background with meaningful software experience
  • Experience taking complex products from development through production
  • Strong technical leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working in a smaller, hands-on organization
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
 

Particularly valuable experience includes:

Custom product development, design for manufacturing, reliability/validation, and quality systems.

The ideal candidate has strong technical roots and has grown into leadership—with the ability to mentor engineers, make thoughtful technical and business tradeoffs, and influence both engineering direction and broader business outcomes.
