Primary Purpose:

Work with faculty and staff to direct and manage the district's digital learning program, including: evaluating and recommending innovative concepts, technologies and delivery modes of digital learning. Contribute to the development of short- and long-range plans for the integration of digital learning into the instructional program. Ensure the exemplary quality of the digital learning program and course selection. Collaborate with academic departments, faculty and staff. Facilitate and recommend related professional development for digital learning staff. Oversee the digital learning program, learning management system, staff and budget. Serve as the key point of contact for the district's digital learning program.ย 

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor's and Master's degree required

Valid Texas teaching certificate required

Valid Texas Mid-management or Principal certificate required

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of instructional software applications

Knowledge of technologies available for use in instructional setting

Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation

Ability to develop and deliver technology training to adult learners

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently, assume responsibility, and take initiative in carrying out assignments

Experience:

At least 5 years successful teaching experience

At least 3 years successful secondary principal experienceย 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Staff Development

  1. Oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive staff development plan for the implementation and use of digital learning.
  2. Provide staff development to teachers and administrators in the use of teaching techniques that incorporate technology in the delivery of existing curriculum.
  3. Provide leadership and digital learning expertise to principals and teaching staff in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of effective digital learning throughout the district.

Curriculum Development/Evaluation/Processes

  1. Work cooperatively with other curriculum development staff to create and manage an online course catalog and smoothly and effectively integrate digital learning into the instructional curriculum.
  2. Coordinate the writing of curriculum for technology-based programs.
  3. Develop and implement a continuing evaluation of the digital learning program and implement changes based on the findings.
  4. Assist in the identification and implementation of best practices for digital learning pedagogy to ensure the quality and effectiveness of the digital learning program.
  5. Develop and implement strategic plans and policies for digital learning, perform yearly program assessments and provide ongoing budgetary analysis.
  6. Serve as a digital learning expert in the best practices, development, and delivery of large-scale on-line educational programming.
  7. Develop and implement techniques for formative and summative assessment in online modalities.ย 

Budget and Inventory

  1. Compile cost estimates used in the budgeting process and administer the digital learning budget ensuring the program is cost-effective, and funds are managed prudently.
  2. Coordinate the selection of instructional technology equipment and software. Maintain a database of all digital learning software and licensing in the district.
  3. Provide expertise in developing bids for purchase, distribution, maintenance, and installation of hardware, software, and other technological equipment and materials used for the digital learning program.

Policy, Reports, and Law

  1. Assist in the development of policies and procedures regarding technology and digital education related issues.
  2. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
  3. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
  4. Create and manage a system to effectively enroll and track students in the digital learning program.
  5. Manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to evolving educational and technological trends.
  6. Serve as a liaison between online students and campus academic and instructional support services
  7. Perform assigned responsibilities and other related duties according to established practices, procedures, and standards in a safe manner and with minimal supervision

Personnel Management

  1. Assist in the selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of digital learning staff and make recommendations relative to assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal.
  2. Develop training options and improvement plans for digital learning personnel to ensure best operation of the program.
