Position Summary

We are seeking a litigation lawyer with sufficient litigation background (substantive legal issues, proceedings, and venues, including experience with discovery and motion practice) to assist the company's senior litigation staff. The position is responsible for assisting senior litigation counsel with the management of cases and disputes, primarily in the negligence, employment, and bankruptcy areas. The successful candidate may be called upon to manage matters in these areas independently, and when called upon, advocate for and represent the company in such matters. The position will focus primarily on domestic matters, with opportunities to work on non-US matters. The position reports to the Deputy General Counsel for Litigation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage discovery in assigned cases
  • Provide counseling and advice to senior litigation staff and clients on assigned matters
  • Lead internal investigations of negligence and employment matters
  • Manage case budgets and outside counsels' compliance with NCR's Outside Counsel Billing Guidelines
  • Role in corporate credit risk review process, including updating clients on customer bankruptcy matters
  • Represent NCR in mediations of negligence matters
  • Work directly with litigation vendors

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
  • At least 3 years' experience in a law firm litigation group, including ideally a working understanding of US bankruptcy law
  • Knowledge of privilege issues relevant to in-house practice
  • Excellent legal judgment and ability to work independently
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Superior legal and business writing skills
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Familiarity with electronic discovery protocols and litigation technology
  • Ability to conduct and direct legal research
  • Willing to learn in a fast-paced environment and on a large number of matters at any given time
  • Member of the Georgia bar or be eligible to practice as an in-house attorney in Georgia
