Job description

Position Summary
The Lean Leader is responsible for championing and leading the Parker Lean System initiatives at the plant level by utilizing and aligning to our corporate strategy. Incumbent will provide leadership and facilitation on cross-functional teams focused on solving a variety of high impact problems as well as design continuous improvement projects to improve quality, reduce costs, and establish appropriate process metrics and process controls. Incumbent organizes and supports team member in value stream mapping and continuous improvement initiatives to eliminate waste in all office, factory, and support functions; measures and reports progress on an on-going basis through assessments, financial performance measures (DNE, DSI (Inventory), Labor Efficiency, Cost Savings, etc.) and various other measures. They will be tasked to inspire, lead, assist, coach, and mentor the overall site in the Parker Lean System while supporting leaders in the ownership of lean principles.
Responsibilities
-Leads and guides Lean initiatives within the Plant. Establish project strategy and create project plans.
-Works with plant level management on Lean process projects using lean tools and metrics.
-Assists in the development of a Lean Strategy to be implemented plant wide and then provides consistent coaching and mentoring around the process
-Ownership of process improvement projects. Coordinates initiatives at all levels of the plant around how to continually eliminate waste.
Deliver breakthrough levels of improvement in process capability, produce designs and business processes to reduce defects and attain world class levels of quality.
-Ensures that steering committees and teams are implementing and adhering to the Parker Lean System (Lean principles, techniques, and methodologies according to corporate requirements. Technologies and methodologies include Value Steam Mapping, Kanban Pull Systems, Quick Changeover, design for lean, one-piece flow, inventory reduction, site tracking centers, value stream transformation, etc.). Train and teach team members on lean tools.
-Makes implementation and results a top priority and regularly updates the Plant's Lean implementation plan.
-Empower team atmosphere of new ideas & innovation for continuous process improvements. Empowers every team member in the Plant through hands on coaching and mentoring along with positive reinforcement of Lean.
-Provides effective change management, leadership, and optimization in implementing the corporate strategy across the Plant. Serves as a catalyst for successful and sustained lean implementation through inspirational leadership across the plant.
-Provides high level of technical and operational recommendations in meeting material control, product quality and customer service goals. Supports coaching and teaching of all the components of the Parker Lean System (lean principles using outside resources as applicable).
-Ensures on-going education of all team members at the Plant in Lean. Promotes a Continuous Learning environment.
-Position must understand the current culture by reviewing existing documentation of policies and procedures. Position is responsible for working with all operating disciplines by leveraging the Parker Lean System and the associated tools to ultimately drive and deliver on the corporate strategy.
-Proficient use of Lean and Six Sigma methodology & tools.
-Employ problem solving/statistical techniques.
-Identifies and remove barriers that slow or prevent the success of business goals.
-Effective use of benchmarking of world-class business and manufacturing processes.
-Utilization and sharing of Best Practices and Lessons Learned.
-Promote an atmosphere of internal and external Customer Focus.
-Strive to enable organization to become more self-sufficient and sustaining in process improvement endeavors.
-Collaborate on the yearly creation of the Lean road map and vision
Qualifications
Mandatory Qualifications
-Minimum of Bachelor's degree with a preference towards a technical discipline such as Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, and or Life Sciences, Engineering, Technology, etc.
-5-8 years of manufacturing technical experience demonstrating the ability to collaborate driving results through influence versus direct control.
-Minimum of 2 years' demonstrated experience working on process improvement related projects
-A good understanding of Lean principles and Lean Six Sigma methodology and tools such as Value Stream Transformation (Mapping), Just-in-Time, Demand Flow, Single Piece Flow, Five S's, Visual Management, etc.
-Has participated in numerous lean events in manufacturing, engineering and support areas.
-Has demonstrated the ability to articulate the desired state, purpose and value of lean and constantly moving in the direction of waste elimination.
-Good understanding of financial measurements and goals and has good analytical skills.
-Excellent communication skills to lead and support empowered employees in a team environment.
-Good presentation skills to effectively share the success and ideas of the Division.
-Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills. Track record of data driven results
-Proficiency in the application of statistical analysis tools
-Proven ability to facilitate & lead teams in multi-functional environments
-Demonstrated ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment, working on multiple projects with aggressive deadlines
-Effective communication skills both oral and written across all levels of the organization
-Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
