Job description

We're looking for a Senior Director of Product Design to lead the vision, strategy, and execution for CLEAR Travel and CLEAR1 experiences across consumer and enterprise touchpoints including web, mobile, partner integrations, airport experiences, and in-person kiosks.

This is a highly strategic leadership role for a design executive who can unify physical and digital experiences and build the operating model and design systems needed to scale. This leader will partner closely with Product, Engineering, Operations, and business leadership to ensure design drives measurable impact across growth, trust, throughput, and partner value.

What you'll do:

  • Lead design strategy across CLEAR's travel and CLEAR1 experiences, spanning consumer, enterprise, and operational touchpoints across web, mobile, airport kiosks, and partner surfaces.
  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Aviation Operations, CLEAR1, Marketing, Partnerships, and Member Care to define priorities, shape roadmaps, and deliver high-impact experiences.
  • Oversee the design of key traveler and partner journeys, including enrollment, verification, authentication, subscription, account management, and operational workflows.
  • Use research, field insights, experimentation, and behavioral data to identify friction, improve usability, and drive better customer and business outcomes.
  • Develop and evolve the design systems, service blueprints, and experience standards that create consistency across products and channels.
  • Set the operating model for the team, including design reviews, prioritization, quality standards, and cross-functional ways of working.
  • Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing team of product designers, strengthening the organization's leadership bench, craft, and impact.
  • Champion trust, privacy, accessibility, and inclusive design across high-stakes identity and traveler experiences.
  • Communicate design strategy, priorities, and outcomes clearly to executive stakeholders, cross-functional leaders, and external partners.
  • Identify opportunities to apply AI-assisted workflows and intelligent product experiences to improve team velocity and user outcomes.

How you'll measure success:

Your primary focus will be driving measurable improvements across traveler growth, partner adoption, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction. Success will be measured through metrics such as traveler acquisition and retention, enrollment conversion, partner utilization, throughput improvements, CSAT/NPS, operational reliability, and achievement of product and business objectives.

You will work collaboratively with Product, Engineering, Aviation Operations, CLEAR1, and business stakeholders to align on strategic goals and ensure the team consistently delivers high-quality, scalable experiences. Success in this role will include elevating design quality across the organization, strengthening team health and leadership capability, and improving measurable outcomes across traveler and B2B customer journeys.

Key indicators of success may include:

  • Improvement in CLEAR Travel enrollment, conversion, member retention, and account management experiences
  • Increased CLEAR1 customer adoption, implementation effectiveness, product utilization, and satisfaction across both enterprise stakeholders and end users
  • Reduction in friction, failure points, and time-to-complete across all end-user experiences and operational workflows
  • Improvement in throughput, CSAT/NPS, usability, accessibility, and operational reliability across CLEAR Travel and CLEAR1 end-user experiences
  • Sustained excellence in team capability, design quality, and cross-functional partnership across the design organization

What you're great at:

  • 10+ years of experience leading product design and/or industrial design organizations.
  • Track record of linking design strategy to measurable business outcomes, including conversion, retention, adoption, efficiency, and satisfaction.
  • Proven success designing complex consumer and enterprise experiences in fast-paced, operationally intensive environments.
  • Strong experience building experiences across physical and digital ecosystems, including kiosks, mobile, web, operational tools, and partner-integrated surfaces.
  • Outstanding communication, collaboration, and executive stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional leaders and align teams around a clear design vision.
  • Ability to balance long-term vision-setting with rapid execution and operational delivery.
  • Deep understanding of traveler, enterprise, and operational user needs, with experience in user research, field research, and usability testing across consumer and B2B contexts.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary design organizations, including senior individual contributors and managers, and building design systems, research practices, team operating rhythms, AI-enabled workflows, and strong service design and systems-thinking practices in complex organizations, with familiarity across digital identity, aviation technology, traveler experience, and enterprise authentication platforms.

How You'll be Rewarded:
