Job description

POSITION REPORTS TO:               Chief Operating Officer

POSITION MANAGES:                   Director, Food & Beverage; Manager, Donor Hospitality; Manager, Rentals; Manager, Hospitality Operations

POSITION LOCATION:                  Hybrid (requires days onsite and allows telework)

Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts is seeking a Senior Director, Hospitality to oversee all aspects of the Foundation’s food-related hospitality business lines, including the Foundation’s Food and Beverage/Concessions operations at the Filene Center and The Barns at Wolf Trap, Catering, Donor Hospitality, and Corporate and Social Rentals programs, as well as  the Foundation’s Ovation’s restaurant onsite at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Hospitality Team Leadership

  • Effectively lead, manage, and provide oversight and guidance to the Foundation’s Food and Beverage/Concessions, Culinary, Catering, Rentals, Donor Hospitality and Restaurant teams to build a coordinated, collaborative, and comprehensive hospitality group.
  • Lead the Hospitality Team to set strategic departmental priorities and advance the Foundation’s institutional strategic goals and objectives.
  • Represent the Hospitality Team and work collaboratively with Foundation Senior leadership team and staff to deliver the best possible hospitality experience for all Wolf Trap constituents.

Creative Vision and Customer Experience

  • Set the tone and ambience for all food/beverage operations, including concessions operations at The Filene Center at Wolf Trap National Park and The Barns at Wolf Trap; operation of Ovations restaurant at Wolf Trap National Park; management of Wolf Trap’s corporate and social rentals programs; catering and hospitality logistical operations for internal and external clients; and delivery of hospitality services to members/donors who utilize the Pavilions, Encore Lounge and Meadow Commons Lounge at Wolf Trap National Park.
  • Set standards and implement strategies to provide the finest in customer service and guest experiences for all who engage with Wolf Trap’s hospitality services. Recommend and implement guest satisfaction and operational improvements as appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with Foundation leadership team including the COO; VP, Communications and Marketing; and VP, Development, to develop content to build brand awareness, promote, and market the Foundation’s hospitality offerings to the community.

Business/Operations Oversight

  • Establish and manage annual revenue goals and expense budget for the Foundation’s hospitality unit.
  • Set sales strategies and guest satisfaction metrics.
  • Utilize established, best-practice Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in the food/beverage industry to manage costs and ensure efficiency and effectiveness across all hospitality related activities.
  • Ensure staff and organizational compliance with all relevant food and beverage regulations, including all Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) laws, food safety, licensing, and service certifications.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • BA/BS degree or 10+ years related equivalent or transferable experience in the hospitality industry.
  • 5 years management experience, including successfully supervising and motivating staff at a variety of levels within a hotel, restaurant, food and beverage, concessions, banquet/catering, or related hospitality setting.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated success in and working knowledge of all aspects of the hospitality and food and beverage industry.
  • Dedication to and proven experience delivering high quality customer service experiences to a range of audiences and consumers.
  • Experience bringing a collaborative, inclusive, strategic approach to solving problems, working professionally and positively with team leaders and peers.
  • Excellent financial/business acumen.
  • Strong leadership, team management, critical thinking, and communications (written, oral, and listening) skills.
  • Excellent digital literacy including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and POS software programs (such as Toast).
  • Regularly available to work onsite on evenings and weekends, including early mornings and late evenings.
  • Sensitivity and commitment to the mission of Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50 percent of the time.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment (i.e. copier, printer, etc.)
  • Regularly required to walk, stoop, bend and reach with arms.
  • Frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds.
