Director, Data Analysis - Global Payment Network - Risk Management

As a Director, Data Analysis you will partner cross-functionally with teams throughout the company to validate business impacting analytical tools. You will enhance your technical and analytical skills, while also working with leaders to influence business strategies. The Global Payment Network - Risk Management team leverages large-scale transaction data, risk modeling, and advanced analytics to inform key strategic decisions regarding how we identify, monitor, and mitigate systemic risks. Your role will be to help execute on our ambitious agenda, which includes reinventing our data reporting architecture, establishing robust governance frameworks for emerging payment types, and integrating predictive risk signals into our core network oversight processes.

On a given day you will be:

  • Leading a newly created team of Data Analysts within GPN's Risk Management organization

  • Refining a new Enterprise-wide analytical tools validation framework

  • Planning and executing validation projects

  • Assessing the quality and risk of analytical tool methodologies across Capital One, and the nature of tools usage within those processes

  • Understanding technical issues in analytical tools and assessing tools risks and opportunities

  • Independently researching, identifying, and prototyping industry best practices for emerging analytical tools

  • Communicating results clearly and concisely both verbally and through written communications via validation reports and presentations

  • Leveraging education, colleagues and training opportunities to develop solutions to business problems

  • Coaching and mentoring junior staff

An ideal candidate will possess strong problem solving and conceptual thinking abilities in addition to communication, interpersonal and leadership skills. This position will be in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment where you will be handling multiple concurrent projects while working independently and in teams.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree plus at least 9 years of experience in data analytics, or Master's Degree plus at least 7 years of experience in data analytics, or PhD plus at least 4 years of experience in data analytics

  • At least 5 years of Professional Data Analysis experience

  • At least 5 years of People Management experience

  • At least 2 years of Big Data technology experience

  • At least 2 years of Data Visualization experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree

  • 10+ years of Professional Data Analysis experience

  • 5+ years of Big Data experience (AWS and Spark)

  • 5+ years of cloud native (AWS) data processing experience

  • 5+ years of Process Management experience

  • 5+ years of Project Management experience

  • 5+ years of experience with Python

  • 5+ years of Data Governance experience

  • 2+ years of experience with streaming data technologies (Kafka, Flink, Spark streaming)

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
