Kelly, in partnership with a plating manufacturer, is looking for a Production Manager in Raleigh, NC. Details:
  • Hours: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday – Friday
  • Pay: $65,000 - $70,000, plus bonus (higher compensation available for a candidate with plating experience)
Job Description:
The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the anodizing and electroplating facility, ensuring production targets, quality standards, safety requirements, and delivery schedules are consistently met. This role manages production staff, optimizes processes, and drives continuous improvement across all finishing lines.
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and supervise daily production activities for plating lines
  • Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining quality and efficiency
  • Monitor workflow, staffing, and equipment utilization to maximize output
  • Oversee plating processes, including bath chemistry, racking, and finishing
  • Ensure proper maintenance and control of tanks, rectifiers, filtration systems, and wastewater treatment
  • Troubleshoot production issues related to coating quality, adhesion, thickness, and defects
  • Ensure all products meet customer specifications and industry standards
  • Work closely with Quality Assurance to maintain compliance with ISO, NADCAP, and internal procedures
  • Analyze defects and implement corrective/preventive actions
  • Supervise, train, and develop production personnel, including line operators and supervisors
  • Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement
  • Conduct performance evaluations and manage staffing levels
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local environmental regulations
  • Enforce proper handling and storage of hazardous chemicals
  • Maintain safety programs, PPE usage, and incident reporting
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs for production equipment
  • Work with maintenance teams to minimize downtime and extend equipment life
  • Oversee chemical inventory, raw materials, and production supplies
  • Coordinate with purchasing to maintain adequate stock levels
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and efficiency gains
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma initiatives where applicable

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in anodizing, electroplating, or metal finishing operations
  • 2+ years in a supervisory or management role
  • Strong knowledge of anodizing and electroplating processes (e.g., sulfuric anodizing, hardcoat, zinc, nickel, chrome plating)
  • Familiarity with chemical bath control, titration, and wastewater treatment systems
  • Understanding of quality standards and testing methods
