Job description

Description

Are you a direct mail production expert who thrives on managing complex campaigns, solving problems before they happen, and keeping high-volume fundraising programs running smoothly? Do you enjoy balancing precision and process with relationship-building and strategic thinking?

Avalon is a full-service marketing agency that works with nonprofits to raise funds and amplify their impact. We help our clients grow with bold, data-driven strategies. ย Our direct mail campaigns reach millions of supporters each year, and our Production team plays a critical role in ensuring every package is executed accurately, efficiently, and on time.

As a Production Director, you will lead Avalon's Production department while overseeing production strategy and execution for a portfolio of high-value fundraising clients. You will collaborate closely with internal teams and external production partners to manage schedules, budgets, quality control, and vendor relationships across complex direct mail campaigns.

This role is ideal for someone who combines deep production expertise with strong leadership skills, a proactive mindset, and an eye for both detail and the bigger picture

What You'll Do

In this role, you will oversee complex direct mail production projects from concept through mail drop, ensuring campaigns are executed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule. You'll work closely with internal teams, printers, mailshops, data vendors, and production partners to coordinate timelines, manage approvals, troubleshoot challenges, and identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and reduce costs.

You will also lead and support Avalon's Production team by mentoring Production Project Managers, helping manage department capacity, identifying training opportunities, and strengthening production processes across the organization. Along the way, you'll serve as a trusted internal resource on production strategy, postal regulations, vendor management, and quality control best practices.

  • Experience leading or mentoring production teamsย
  • Knowledge of USPS regulations, postal strategy, and production trendsย
  • Experience identifying production efficiencies and cost-saving opportunitiesย
  • Strong quality control skills and exceptional attention to detailย
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environmentย
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindsetย
  • Strong communication and collaboration skillsย

Our most successful team members also bring:

  • Exceptional organization and follow-throughย
