Job overview


The Archivist Intern will support the Telegraph Museums archive organization and collections documentation work. This role will focus on cataloging, physical organization, photography, and records support to improve access to collection materials and help prepare artifacts for research and display needs.   • Create, update, and maintain records in the collections management system.
  • Sort, label, and organize archival and museum materials.
  • Conduct descriptive cataloging of records and extract their data into spreadsheets.
  • Research records, events, and figures to enrich Museum history and metadata.
  • Digitize records by scanning or photographing and create their metadata for ingestion into the Museum's digital asset management system.
  • Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and follow through on commitments.

Work Environment


  • Heated and air-conditioned indoor work with occasional work outdoors.
  • Frequent pinching, grasping, fine manipulation with fingersto usecomputer,keyboardandphone.
  • Ability toliftand carry up to 25 pounds and push/pull up to 50 pounds.
  • This role involves standing, pushing heavy carts, handling dusty materials, and wearing protective gear.

What youll need to succeed in this position:


  • Experience in organization,cataloging,or curating.
  • Current undergraduate, graduate, or recent graduate in Museum Studies, Art History, History, Archaeology, Anthropology, Library Science, Archival Studies, or relatedfield.
  • Demonstrated interest in history, archives, library sciences, or museum studies.
  • Basic computerproficiencyincludingMicrosoftOffice and Excel.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Must have a steadyhandand must be comfortable handling awkward, heavy, or brittle items without rushing.
