Business Development Manager - Mechanical Services

Provide valve service-related sales and technical support to Applied Control’s customers to continually grow our valve services business throughout our territory.

Business Development Manager - Mechanical Services Responsibilities:

  • Identify and cultivate opportunities with new customers and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with all key valve services customers.
  • Manage and coordinate the pursuit of in-house and field valve service opportunities.
  • Lead and/or support each opportunity through the following phases: Project Identification, Pursuit Strategy, Proposal Generation, Execution, Project Completion and Customer Satisfaction Follow-up.
  • Serve as an outside sales resource and subject matter expert for all valve services, including:
  • Control, relief, ball, gate, globe, and check valves
  • Pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric actuators
  • Instrumentation and accessories, i.e. solenoids, switch boxes, digital positioners, controllers, etc.
  • Installation, maintenance, and commissioning services
  • Initiate, assist, and document walk downs to determine job scope, valve data, and valve location.
  • Communicate to the inside sales team any additional equipment required to perform the requested service engagement.
  • Comply with customer safety standards including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (respirators, goggles, hearing protection, etc.) when visiting customer facilities.
  • Understand and comply with generally accepted industry standards, such as ANSI, ASME, API, NBIC and others, as they apply to valve service.
  • Look for opportunities to provide additional value to customers that also deliver incremental business for Applied Control and Emerson.

Business Development Manager - Mechanical Services Skills/Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of control valves, isolation valves, safety valves, and actuation required
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Basic PC skills and ability to utilize various software applications (MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.) and interface with multiple business/database systems
  • Ability to access customer equipment which may involve stooping, bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing ladders and stairs, riding man lifts, walking scaffolding, catwalks, etc.

Business Development Manager - Mechanical Services Working Conditions:

Travel is required and may include driving several hours per day and overnight trips. Must have a valid driver’s license and own an automobile. This position is eligible for a vehicle reimbursement program.

The position requires regular carrying of a laptop computer and occasionally carrying demonstration equipment/products.

Business Development Manager - Mechanical Services Compensation:

  • The range for On Target Earnings (OTE) for candidates with 1-5 years of experience is $91,000-$118,000 at 100% of goal, of which 65% is fixed and 35% is variable. For candidates with 5-10 years of industry experience can make OTE up to $130,000 of which the 65% is fixed and 35% is variable. Once 100% of goal is achieved, then all additional earnings enter into a sales accelerator bonus that increases the higher you go, capping out at 120% of goal. At 120% of goal, employees receive an additional bonus of 50% of their OTE.
  • OTE will be determined based on prior work and industry experience, job-related education, and unique skills.
  • Employees are eligible for additional incentive compensation including an annual sales escalation payment and annual profit share payout.
