Position Overview
The Development Manager is a full-time, exempt position that reports to the Senior Director of Development & Marketing (D&M) and is part of the D&M team at BAGLY. The Development Manager will supervise one Senior Coordinator of Development and support youth peer leaders on the D&M team. In this role, you will help lead and implement fundraising initiatives that support BAGLY's mission and vision of serving LGBTQ+ youth across Massachusetts. The Development Manager will lead and manage many of BAGLY's annual fundraising operations, campaign implementation, stewardship systems, and project management workflows, while collaborating closely with the Senior Director of Development & Marketing on fundraising strategy, growth opportunities, and long-term planning. The Development Manager will manage a portfolio of fundraising projects and donor engagement activities across individual giving, institutional funding, corporate partnerships, fundraising events, and development operations.
This position will be based at the BAGLY office in downtown Boston, MA. Work-from-home hybrid arrangements will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Successful applicants will live within a reasonable commuting distance from BAGLY's Community Center or be willing to relocate. This position requires occasional travel inside the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Duties & Responsibilities
Individual Giving
  • Lead the implementation and day-to-day management of BAGLY's individual giving initiatives, including annual fund, monthly donor, and major donor activities;
  • Manage BAGLY's CRM (currently Bloomerang) to ensure accurate donor records, stewardship tracking, reporting, and moves management activities;
  • Coordinate and help oversee donor communications and stewardship efforts, including appeals, acknowledgments, donor engagement campaigns, and relationship tracking;
  • Assist with donor portfolio development, prospect research, and cultivation planning.

Foundations/Grant Support
  • Help manage BAGLY's institutional funding portfolio, including prospect research, proposal tracking, reporting deadlines, submission timelines, and internal accountability systems;
  • Assist with drafting grant proposals, reports, letters of inquiry, and supporting documentation;
  • Work collaboratively with program staff to gather information, outcomes, and impact data for proposals and reports.

Corporate Giving and Partnership Development
  • Help lead the cultivation and stewardship of corporate sponsors and community partners;
  • Assist with sponsorship outreach, proposal development, benefit fulfillment, and relationship management;
  • Represent BAGLY professionally in meetings, networking events, and community engagement opportunities.

Events
  • Manage and execute key fundraising event operations, including Heels for Hope and Massachusetts Youth Pride sponsorship coordination;
  • Oversee the coordination of event logistics, sponsor communications, auction item procurement, timelines, and vendor management;
  • Support volunteer and committee coordination related to fundraising events and campaigns.

Team Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and across teams to support organizational fundraising goals;
  • Own and manage annual fundraising workflows, operational timelines, and implementation benchmarks across multiple development initiatives;
  • Partner closely with the Senior Director of Development & Marketing on departmental strategy, implementation planning, and operational priorities;
  • Support internal systems, processes, and project management workflows within the Development & Marketing team;
  • Uphold BAGLY's mission, values, and commitment to LGBTQ+ youth;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education
Bachelor's degree preferred, but different combinations of work experience and education will be strongly considered.
Ideal candidates will demonstrate capabilities that meet the basic qualifications listed below.
Basic Qualifications
  • Demonstrates strong writing skills to support grant proposals, donor communications, sponsorship materials, and fundraising campaigns;
  • Brings experience managing multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced team environment;
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly regarding fundraising systems and donor stewardship;
  • Brings experience working in nonprofit organizations, advocacy organizations, fundraising environments, or community-based settings;
  • Comfort and experience using CRMs to manage donor records, reporting, and fundraising operations;
  • Demonstrates professionalism and strong interpersonal communication skills with donors, sponsors, vendors, and community stakeholders.

Advanced Qualifications
  • Experience managing fundraising CRMs, particularly Bloomerang or similar donor databases;
  • Experience coordinating annual fund campaigns, donor stewardship systems, and fundraising communications;
  • Successful experience supporting institutional funding efforts, including proposal preparation and grant tracking;
  • Experience securing or stewarding corporate sponsors and community partnerships;
  • Demonstrated successful planning and coordination of fundraising events;
  • Experience supporting digital fundraising, email fundraising, peer-to-peer fundraising, or donor engagement campaigns;
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.

Compensation
Starting Annual Salary Range: $65,000-$70,000
The starting salary will be determined based on the candidate's demonstrated qualifications and level of applicable experience.
