The Software DevOps Engineer II is responsible for implementation and maintenance of software development systems within the organization. This role focuses on creating reusable, managed development solutions for our engineering teams. The solutions implemented must seamlessly enable software development lifecycle (SDLC). These solutions support Software, FPGA, Hardware and Test development tools and processes.

The solutions enable automating testing within CI/CD pipelines and ensuring compliance with industry and regulatory security standards. The Software DevOps Engineer II works closely with Systems, Software, and FPGA teams to identify DevOps best practices, ensuring product security and operational efficiency. Additionally, this role provides technical support to product stakeholders like Industrialization and Operations to drive reproducible, security-first product deployments.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

•Contribute to the design and implementation of CI/CD pipelines, ensuring compliance with industry standards and organizational policies.

•Provide installation and support for cohesive software and FPGA development environments for bare-metal, embedded Linux, and RTOS based products.

•Work with Engineering, IT, and Operations teams to develop and maintain stable and reliable development and deployment infrastructures for both internal and external projects.

•Ensure that DevOps implementations and processes support automated verification systems and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) methodologies.

•Monitor and update security aspects of software development tools and infrastructure to identify and mitigate potential vulnerabilities.

•Design and develop reusable DevOps components to ensure the security and compliance of product development systems.

•Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of security configurations for embedded Linux builds, ensuring they align with organizational security and performance standards.

•Provide training and support to engineers and staff on DevOps tools and processes.

•Maintain and update documentation related to DevOps processes, tools, environments, security policies, and compliance requirements.

•Stay informed of emerging DevOps tools and best practices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

•Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

•3 or more years of experience in DevOps, software development, or system test automation, preferably in Aerospace, Defense, or Spacecraft environments.

•Recent experience in DevOps toolkits like Jenkins, Ansible, GitLab, Coverity, Parasoft, Black Duck, CycloneDX, and SVN.

•Experience in creating and maintaining embedded software development toolchains for languages like C, C++, RUST for Linux OS builds.

•Experience configuring and supporting Virtual Machines or Docker Containers, secure networking protocols, and common software and FPGA development environments.

•Familiarity with regulatory security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, and DoD security standards.

•Demonstrated ability to interpret complex development system requirements and translate them into actionable development environment solutions.

•Experience sharing software development best practices and DevOps methodologies to other engineers.

•Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

•Experience with design and development for embedded systems.

•Knowledge of Python.

•Hands-on experience with embedded software languages or FPGA development tools
