Adler Pelzer Group - a growing global Tier One supplier of Acoustic and Soft Trim products to the automotive industry is seeking a strong and motivated Engineering Manager for the manufacturing operations located in Eudora, KS. 

The Engineering Manager plans utilization of facilities, equipment, materials, and personnel to improve throughput, inventory and operating expenses. Supports new products, processes, and tooling. Manages and coordinates activities of the department to repair, produce, improve, test components, equipment and processes. Develops Technology and trains employees in operation, maintenance and problem solving of equipment and tooling.

Responsibilities of the Engineering Manager: 

  • Manages the Engineering Department to deliver the engineering priorities of the facility.
  • Confers with planning, corporate engineering and the design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
  • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Confers with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
  • Responsible to manage personnel and projects within his/her department.
  • Establish work measurement programs and analyze data for the development of standards and labor utilization.
  • Exam specific work areas and make recommendations for improvements in throughput, inventory and operating expense.
  • May support manufacturing facility to reorganize workflow, job duties, and cell layouts to improve flow.
  • Guide the need for change for the purpose of improving methods by the use of measurable standards, realistic goals and accountability for improvement
  • Ensures processes and equipment correspond to the best affordable standards.
  • Ensures process and equipment warrant permanent improvements in controllability and productivity.
  • Directs and guides manufacturing methods by the use of throughput, inventory, and operating expense as the method of operation.
  • Research new and improved equipment and processes.
  • Implements and installs technology and machinery. Sets standards and trains all personnel in the safe and productive operation of the equipment and technology.
  • Adherence to plant safety requirements as established by company policy.
  • Participate in Production decisions concerning new product lines.
  • Adhere to applicable TS 16949 requirements.
  • Required to adhere to applicable ISO 14001 requirements
  • May be required to lift a minimum of 25 pounds overhead.
  • May be required to travel and work necessary overtime.

Preferred Requirements of the Engineering Manager:

  • 5-10 years of experience in manufacturing preferably in automotive interior trim and systems.
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office) and ability to use design software. 
  • Excellent organizational skills. 
  • The ability to lead personnel within the department. 
  • The ability to multi-task. 
  • Excellent researching skills.
