Senior Manager, UX Design Systems

Position Summary
The Senior Manager, UX Design Systems is responsible for defining, governing, and scaling the organization's design system across digital products, eCommerce experiences, mobile applications, and customer-facing platforms. This role leads the intersection of UX, UI, brand, accessibility, content, and development standards to create consistent, scalable, and high-performing customer experiences.
The ideal candidate is an experienced UX leader who combines systems thinking, design leadership, governance, and operational excellence. They will establish design standards, component libraries, interaction patterns, accessibility requirements, and experience frameworks that enable teams to create cohesive experiences efficiently and consistently.
This individual will partner closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Creative, Content Strategy, CRM, and Analytics teams to ensure customer experiences are unified across all touchpoints.
Key Responsibilities
Design System Strategy & Governance
  • Define and own the enterprise UX Design System vision and roadmap.
  • Establish governance models, contribution processes, and design standards.
  • Create scalable frameworks that support multiple brands, products, states, and digital channels.
  • Ensure consistency across web, mobile applications, customer journeys, and transactional experiences.
  • Drive adoption of design system standards across business and technology teams.

Design System Management
  • Own and maintain design system libraries within Figma.
  • Develop and manage:
    • Components
    • Design patterns
    • Templates
    • Interaction standards
    • Design tokens
    • Accessibility guidelines
  • Ensure version control, documentation, and ongoing evolution of the system.
  • Create scalable frameworks that reduce design and development redundancy.

UX Leadership
  • Lead UX designers and design system contributors.
  • Establish UX best practices, workflows, and operating standards.
  • Coach team members on systems thinking, accessibility, interaction design, and customer-centered design principles.
  • Facilitate design reviews, critiques, and quality assurance processes.
  • Foster a culture of experimentation, innovation, and continuous improvement.

  • Establish KPIs measuring design system adoption and effectiveness.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce technical debt and design inconsistencies.
  • Support digital transformation initiatives through scalable experience frameworks.

Data-Driven Optimization
  • Leverage user research, analytics, heatmaps, testing, and customer insights.
  • Partner with Analytics teams to evaluate customer behavior and UX performance.
  • Use findings to continuously improve design standards and customer journeys.
  • Support experimentation and A/B testing initiatives.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in UX Design, Human-Centered Design, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Digital Experience, or related field
  • 8+ years of UX/UI experience
  • 3+ years leading design teams or UX programs
  • Demonstrated experience building and managing enterprise design systems
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma, component libraries, and design tokens
  • Strong understanding of responsive design and native app design
  • Experience partnering with Product and Engineering teams
  • Deep understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive design principles
  • Experience working in Agile environments
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading Design System programs within large eCommerce Retail organizations
  • Experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), Adobe Commerce, and personalization platforms or other enterprise level platforms
  • Experience supporting mobile app ecosystems
  • Knowledge of content design and UX writing principles
  • Experience with customer journey mapping and service design
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies and design-to-development workflows
  • Experience managing distributed teams and agency partners
