**Job Title: **CAD Project Designer

**Department: **Customer Operations

**Reports To: **Manager of Customer Experience

Position Summary

The CAD Project Designer serves as the primary technical resource for advanced CAD design, system applications, and customer-specific technical solutions. This position supports Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Customer Operations by developing technical drawings, system layouts, wiring documentation, and application-specific designs. The role works directly with customers and internal teams to ensure solutions are technically accurate, manufacturable, compliant with applicable standards, and aligned with customer requirements.

Primary Responsibilities Technical Design & System Support
  • Develop advanced CAD drawings, wiring diagrams, enclosure layouts, panel graphics, and fabrication documentation.
  • Support technical design for PanelVu, Smoke Control, Graphic Annunciators, Prefab, Shield, and future product lines.
  • Review designs for manufacturability, code compliance, and adherence to company standards.
  • Maintain drawing revisions and engineering documentation.
Technical Customer Support
  • Provide advanced technical support to customers, Sales, Customer Operations, Engineering, and Manufacturing.
  • Assist with system applications, product selection, and custom solution development.
  • Participate in customer meetings to provide technical guidance and design recommendations.
  • Support troubleshooting of technical product and application issues.
Project Support
  • Support customer projects by developing and reviewing technical documentation and system designs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure technical requirements are understood and accurately implemented.
  • Verify designs meet customer specifications, company standards, and applicable codes.
  • Assist in resolving technical issues during quoting, production, installation, and commissioning.
Technical Standards & Continuous Improvement
  • Develop and maintain drawing standards, templates, and technical documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve design consistency, documentation, and engineering workflows.
  • Support implementation of new products, technical resources, and process improvements.
Required Qualifications
  • Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of technical drawings and system design principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while supporting internal and external customers.
  • Experience in fire alarm, life safety, or low-voltage systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office/365.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of UL standards and NFPA codes.
  • Experience with Epicor ERP or similar ERP system.
  • Manufacturing or product design experience.
