THE ROLE

The Position: The Design Engineer Manager is responsible for overseeing various engineering projects, processes, budgets, and timelines and making any necessary adjustments in order to ensure successful completion.


WHAT YOUโ€™LL DO
  • Manage engineers in the design complex parts, and assemblies using Catia/SolidWorks, or other tools as needed with minimal guidance from management.
  • Understand stress/thermal analysis on parts and complex assemblies using classical and numerical FEA methods.
  • Understand monitor and report results of all small-scale tests as well as large scale tests.
  • Travel to manufacturing plants to assist implementation of new designs and processes.
  • Work with vendors to obtain required materials.
  • Meet with customers and make presentations with minimal support from Sales personnel.
  • Supervise and mentor Design Engineers on large projects.
  • Write material specifications.
  • Use product and market knowledge to propose new methods, materials, and products.
  • Maintain technical competency.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Your skills and abilities (required qualifications)

  • Education: BSME / BSMET or higher.
  • ย Experience: Minimum seven yearsโ€™ experience in highway trailer engineering (or equivalent).
  • Skills: Skilled in engineering fields related to trailer design and advanced methods.
    • Uses new or established procedures as well as having great latitude to develop new designs, assemblies, and methods to evaluate.
    • Engineering capabilities expected of a graduate engineer plus ability to manage engineering teams.
    • Ability to motivate teams to meet goals on schedule and manage multiple projects with frequent changes need and priority.
    • Able to interact with representatives of other departments, companies and customers using knowledge of the product and market to provide accurate input and develop solutions to often poorly defined or understood needs.
    • Travel: Typically, 2-5 days per month.
