Rooted, stable heavy equipment manufacturer is adding a Mechanical Design Engineer to their established engineering team. As the Mechanical Design Engineer, you will work with a team of design engineers and will report to the Engineering Manager. Your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Complete mechanical and electrical design of equipment, spending the majority of your time on design work
  • Make modifications to existing designs based on customer requests
  • Ensure design and electrical documentation is accurate and to UL and NEC standards
  • Document bill of materials on the design project
  • Manage multiple design projects in various stages
  • Support the sales and quoting process
  • Complete and document ECNs (engineering change notices)
  • Supply needed support to production and vendors related to design and manufacturability
  • Participate in weekly design status meetings
  • Support mechanical troubleshooting as needed
  • Utilize AutoCAD and 3D modeling software
  • Other duties as directed by management

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will spend up to 90% of the day at your desk, but need to be comfortable visiting the production floor as needed. Successful candidates will have drive, be able to work independently, be able to handle multiple projects and timelines, and be detail oriented. REQUIREMENTS for the Mechanical Design Engineer:

1. High school diploma; a Bachelor's degree is preferred

2. Depending on the level of education, at least four to eight years of experience in a similar Design Engineer role at a heavy equipment manufacturer or an OEM (original equipment manufacturer)

3. Mechanical design experience, including structural, conveyors, etc.

4. 3D modeling experience

5. Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel

Skills preferred but NOT required:

1. Electrical design experience, including control panels, routings, etc.

2. Vault software

3. ERP

4. Job shop environments
