Role Description This is an on-site, contract role for a Freelance CAD Designer based in Canton, OH. The CAD Designer will create, modify, and refine detailed technical drawings and 3D models to support client projects, ensuring accuracy and adherence to specifications and industry standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include interpreting design briefs and project requirements, collaborating with consultants and project stakeholders, and preparing layouts, schematics, and documentation suitable for presentations and production. The role also involves revising designs based on feedback, maintaining organized project files, and ensuring timely delivery of all CAD-related outputs aligned with client timelines and quality expectations.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, or similar) and ability to produce precise 2D and 3D technical drawings.
  • Experience interpreting engineering or architectural specifications, design briefs, and project requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail, spatial reasoning, and quality control in drafting and design work.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders, and respond constructively to feedback.
  • Solid organizational skills, including file management, version control, and time management for multiple projects.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, materials, and manufacturing or construction processes relevant to CAD design.
  • Previous experience in a freelance, contract, or consultancy environment is preferred.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., CAD Design, Engineering Technology, Architecture) or equivalent hands-on experience.
