Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for the strategic oversight, leadership and management of payment systems, deposit operations, IRAs, ACH, faster payments, credit and debit card services. This role ensures operational excellence, regulatory compliance and the implementation of innovative technologies to enhance member experience and drive growth across the credit union's payment and deposit service offerings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SUPPORTING DUTIES:
  • Develop and execute strategies for payments, deposit operations, IRAs, ACH, faster payments, and card services to support the credit union's growth and member-focused mission.
  • Anticipate industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory updates to ensure competitiveness in payments and traditional banking services.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align departmental goals with the credit union's strategic objectives.
  • Oversee payment services, specializing in ACH, Zelle, FedNow and RTP systems.
  • Ensure seamless integration of faster payment solutions with digital platforms and core operations.
  • Educate members and internal teams about the benefits and features of real-time payment services.
  • Oversee ACH processing, wire transfers, and other electronic payment systems, ensuring timely and secure transactions.
  • Implement strong operational controls to mitigate fraud and ensure data security.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop teams across payments, deposit operations, IRAs, and card services.
  • Set clear goals, performance metrics, and accountability standards for team members.
  • Foster a collaborative culture of innovation, excellence, and member-focused service.
  • Collaborate with member service teams to resolve escalated issues related to payments, deposits, faster payments, IRAs, and card services.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Required Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business or a related field of study. Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) certification or similar industry certification is desired.
Required Experience: 8 - 10 years of experience in financial services, including leadership roles in payments, deposit operations, and card services. Expertise in ACH, RTP, FedNow, and regulatory compliance.
Required Knowledge: Strong knowledge of payment systems, faster payments, ACH, wires, IRAs, card services and all applicable rules and regulations. In-depth understanding of product development and member engagement strategies.
Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects, tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Commitment to understanding and addressing member needs and enhancing the overall member experience.
