Job Title: Student Life Office Assistant

Department: Office of Student Life

Supervisor: Tianna Stover & Bradley Taylor

Starting Rate of Pay: $8.00/hour

Length of Time: Eligible for rehire on a semester basis

Department Description

The Office of Student Life strives to model the value of service by improving the daily lives of the HPU family as a single source of knowledge for student life, engagement and residential living information. As a student employee, you will gain experience in customer service, leadership, problem-solving and teamwork.

Job Description

Student Life Office Assistants will provide HPU students, faculty, staff and families with first-class customer service in a solution-oriented team. They maintain a comprehensive knowledgebase of High Point University and the breath of resources, programming and events offered by the Office of Student Life.

Job Location/ Hours Required

The candidate will perform most/all job duties at the Office of Student Life in Slane Student Center. Hours may vary depending on the job requirements; however, the maximum number of hours a student employee may work per week is 20 hours. This position requires a minimum of 8 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide unmatched customer service to all students, faculty, staff and visitors
  • Serve as a resource to the campus community by addressing the needs of walk-in visitors and by answering incoming phone calls
  • Communicate the University's mission and answer basic questions about HPU and Student Life policies, procedures, events and resources
  • Recognizes sensitive internal information and exercises discretion
  • Ability to work assigned shifts throughout the week (days and evenings), some weekends and special events
  • Execute multiple projects and job functions with efficiency
  • Assist with residence life roommate introductions
  • Attend all required training and staff meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

Applicants should possess exceptional interpersonal skills, savvy communication and be comfortable communicating with others. Students must maintain a GPA of 2.75 or higher, be in good standing with Student Life and maintain a professional social media presence to remain eligible for this position.
