Job Summary
  • Seeking a Database Engineer to provide technical expertise in database design, development, implementation, administration, information storage and retrieval, data flow, and analysis
  • The successful candidate will support database engineering throughout the system development lifecycle, from requirements definition and architecture through system acceptance testing and Initial Operational Capability (IOC)
  • This role requires strong Oracle database administration experience, Linux expertise, and the ability to design and optimize database solutions that balance performance, security, scalability, retention, and mission requirements

Primary Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain relational and/or object-oriented databases
  • Develop database parser software, database loading tools, scripts, and supporting utilities
  • Define and document database requirements from project inception through system acceptance and IOC
  • Develop database structures that align with overall system architecture and mission requirements
  • Evaluate and balance database design considerations including data volumes, user loads, logical and physical distribution, response times, retention requirements, security, and domain controls
  • Project long-range database administration, capacity, performance, and design requirements
  • Analyze and recommend database and system improvements, optimization, development, and maintenance activities
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize ad hoc queries, scripts, macros, tables, and data-processing workflows
  • Create and update queries used to manipulate, aggregate, and transform data into master datasets or operational data products
  • Design and maintain database interfaces using Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) and related technologies
  • Support database storage, retrieval, and processing using cloud-based methodologies
  • Install, configure, patch, troubleshoot, and maintain Oracle database environments
  • Administer and support Oracle Database, Oracle Enterprise Manager, and Oracle Data Guard
  • Perform database performance tuning, monitoring, backup, recovery, replication, and availability management
  • Support Linux-based database environments using Linux commands and Bash scripting
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, software developers, cybersecurity personnel, architects, and mission stakeholders
  • Support database testing, system integration, acceptance testing, and deployment readiness

Required Qualifications
  • Must have active Top Secret/SCI clearance with NSA Full Scope Polygraph
  • Demonstrated experience with database architecture, engineering, administration, and development
  • Extensive hands-on experience installing, configuring, and patching:
    • Oracle Database
    • Oracle Enterprise Manager
    • Oracle Data Guard
  • Strong experience with relational database design, schema development, and data modeling
  • Experience developing and optimizing complex database queries
  • Experience with database performance tuning, monitoring, backup, recovery, and high-availability concepts
  • Strong Linux operating system experience
  • Proficiency with Linux commands and system utilities
  • Experience developing and maintaining Bash scripts
  • Experience translating system and data requirements into database designs and technical solutions
  • Ability to evaluate database trade-offs involving performance, scalability, data retention, security, and distribution
  • Experience supporting databases through development, integration, testing, and operational deployment

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL database technologies
  • Experience with cloud-based database services and architectures
  • Experience with ODBC and enterprise database integration
  • Database automation and infrastructure scripting
  • Experience supporting highly available, mission-critical database environments
  • Experience with database security, access controls, and data-domain separation

Exempt hourly position. 11 paid holidays, minimum of 3 weeks PTO, company sponsored group medical plan, company paid dental, vision, life insurance, and STD/LTD plans. Salary is dependent upon the candidate's experience and qualifications.
The pay range for this role is:
180,000 - 240,000 USD per year (AJ6)
