Job Description

What You Will Do:

The Area Director - DD/IDD Services oversees all residential programs and services across the assigned geographic region. You'll provide leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight to ensure high-quality services for individuals with disabilities while supporting operational growth and developing new business opportunities.

This high-impact leadership role includes oversight of budget management, staffing, licensing, compliance, policy development, program performance, marketing, and proposal preparation. You'll work closely with Area Managers, Program Directors, support staff, and the state management team to drive operational excellence, strengthen leadership teams, and ensure consistency and compliance across all programs.

This position focuses heavily on leadership development, operational excellence, compliance oversight, financial performance, and strategic growth initiatives to support the long-term success of residential IDD/DD services throughout the region.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Team Development: Lead, mentor, and support Area Managers and Program Directors across assigned residential programs while promoting accountability, collaboration, communication, and operational consistency. Support recruitment, staff development, retention, and leadership growth initiatives across the region.
  • Community & Relationship Building: Build positive relationships with families, community partners, referral sources, and external stakeholders while representing Dungarvin throughout the community and supporting regional partnership and growth opportunities.
  • Compliance & Operational Oversight: Oversee residential program operations to ensure compliance with state regulations, licensing requirements, Medicaid Waiver standards, HCBS expectations, and organizational policies. Maintain readiness for audits, inspections, operational reviews, and escalated situations across all programs while supporting consistent, person-centered service delivery.
  • Financial & Performance Management: Monitor operational performance, staffing trends, budgets, expenses, and program performance across assigned services while partnering with leadership teams to support financial health, operational stability, and long-term program success.
Qualifications

What Makes You a Great Fit:

Must Have:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field required, including Psychology, Counseling, Sociology, Allied Health, or Human Services.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience within residential IDD/DD services, group homes, or community-based programs required.
  • Leadership Experience: 2+ years of leadership experience overseeing multiple programs, sites, or leadership teams preferred.
  • Program Knowledge: Understanding of person-centered supports, residential operations, Medicaid/CIH/HCBS Waiver services, and compliance standards in accordance to IDOH and CARF.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and the ability to adapt to new technology platforms.
  • Licensure & Transportation: Valid driver's license with a driving record that meets agency insurance requirements.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Industry Expertise: Experience supporting multi-site residential IDD/DD programs.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Knowledge of Indiana-specific disability service regulations and HCBS standards.
  • Leadership Development: Experience mentoring leaders or supporting operational growth initiatives.
  • Operational Insight: Budgeting, financial oversight, or performance management experience.
