Job Summary

The Federal Sales Engineer 3 for Comcast Government Services supports Comcast Business by providing technical sales support and solution development for U.S. Federal Government customers. This role partners closely with Federal Sales, senior Sales Engineers, product teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to develop customer-focused solutions across Comcast Business’ connectivity, cybersecurity, and managed services portfolio. The Federal Sales Engineer 3 is expected to build foundational expertise in Federal solution-selling, contribute to customer engagements, and support the development of solutions that may also include approved teaming partner capabilities where appropriate. This is a collaborative position for a technical seller who can manage multiple priorities, respond to customer needs, and contribute effectively to proposal and sales activities under the guidance of senior team members. The Federal Sales Engineer 3 is designed to focus around three main requirements – 1. Support solution selling of Comcast products and services. 2. Contribute to customer solutions involving managed services and cybersecurity, including partner-enabled capabilities with guidance from senior team members. 3. Continual learning to build technical, business, and industry knowledge in a constantly evolving environment. The successful candidate will be able to discuss relevant technology trends and customer requirements with support from senior team members as needed. The Federal Sales Engineer role will be hybrid (four days per week in office) at the Reston, VA Comcast Business office (11951 Freedom Dr Ste 900, Reston, VA) and travel 10-25% annually.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities

  • Support the development of customer solutions across Comcast’s Managed Network Services portfolio, including Managed Broadband, Managed Router, Managed Wi-Fi, Managed Security, Unified Communications/Voice, Ethernet, and related services.
  • Participate in customer meetings in person, virtually, and by phone in support of the sales process.
  • Assist in designing customer solutions that align to technical requirements, budgets, and delivery considerations.
  • Help document solutions through written responses, diagrams, and presentations, including basic articulation of cybersecurity and managed services value.
  • Provide support for as-built diagrams and transition activities with implementation and operations teams as needed.
  • Contribute to proposal and RFP responses, standard solution development, and configuration support with guidance from more senior engineers.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Sales Engineering, Product, Network Engineering, and other internal stakeholders to support pre-sales activities.
  • Participate in account planning and opportunity strategy discussions.
  • Develop business and market awareness to better understand customer priorities, competitive positioning, and growth opportunities.
  • Build technical expertise across Comcast Business solutions and approved partner capabilities relevant to customer opportunities.
  • Work as part of a team on customer opportunities and assigned projects, escalating complex issues when appropriate.
  • Provide timely updates on assigned deliverables, customer requests, and opportunity support items.
  • Exercise sound judgment in handling customer and internal requests within established processes and guidance.
  • Travel 10-25% annually.
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, preferably in Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Entry-level or foundational industry certifications such as CCNA or equivalent are desired.
  • 5+ years of related experience in sales engineering, telecommunications, networking, managed services, or a similar technical customer-facing role.
  • Experience supporting enterprise or public sector customers is helpful; Federal customer experience is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals such as Carrier Ethernet, SD-WAN, IP networking, Internet services, routing, switching, and basic security concepts.
  • Exposure to managed services, cloud networking, business continuity, or cybersecurity solutions is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly in writing, presentations, and customer discussions.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced sales environment.
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn, with the ability to work effectively under direction and grow toward increased independence.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Visio, Salesforce, and related desktop tools.
  • Team player, adaptable, and responsive to changing business needs.
  • 10-25% Travel Required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government national security clearance preferred.
