Role Overview

The ideal candidate has previous experience as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Engineer, or Pre-Sales Engineer within a Managed Services Provider (MSP) or technology consulting environment. This individual has a proven track record of partnering with Account Executives to conduct technical discovery, scope infrastructure and security solutions, and guide customers through complex technology decisions. This is not a post-sales implementation role. The Solutions Engineer partners directly with Account Executives to design and position technical solutions throughout the sales process and acts as a trusted advisor to prospective customers.

Role Focus

  • Primary Objective: Design and support successful customer infrastructure and security solutions while driving technical alignment throughout the sales cycle
  • Approach: Consultative, technical, customer-focused, and solution-oriented engagement
  • Core Skills: Solution architecture, technical discovery, customer relationship management, and proposal development
  • Solution Profile: Managed IT infrastructure, managed security services, Microsoft Azure Public Cloud, Microsoft 365, networking, server, endpoint, and cybersecurity solutions.
  • Success Metrics: Solution win rates, customer satisfaction, account growth, technical alignment, and proposal delivery accuracy
  • Challenges: Managing diverse customer environments, translating technical complexity into business value, and balancing multiple opportunities simultaneously

Main Responsibilities

  • Partner with Account Executives to support both new logo acquisition and existing account growth through technical solution consulting.
  • Lead technical scoping sessions and develop solution architectures for Microsoft Azure (required), Microsoft 365, networking, and managed security services.
  • Present technical recommendations and solution demonstrations to executive and technical audiences.
  • Support account management activities by identifying technology refresh, optimization, and expansion opportunities within existing customer environments.
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor to both prospective and existing customers by building strong professional relationships
  • Review customer environments to identify areas for technology refreshes, optimization, expansion, or additional support
  • Educate customers on technology standards, operational risks, and alignment between business goals and technical strategy
  • Support customer business reviews by combining operational and technical insights from internal delivery teams
  • Drive adoption of RedHelm services through strategic technical guidance and upsell identification
  • Maintain expertise across RedHelm services and third-party partner technologies to support customer recommendations
  • Translate technical concepts and requirements into clear, business-focused recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Collaborate closely with sales, engineering, operations, and leadership teams to support customer success and solution delivery
  • Ensure customer data and information are handled securely and in accordance with all RedHelm Information Security Policies
  • Maintain accurate documentation, customer records, opportunity updates, and technical information within CRM platforms
  • Will require occasional travel for business purposes

Required Experience

  • 3+ years of experience designing, deploying, and/or supporting IT infrastructure and/or IT security environments
  • 2+ years of experience in a pre-sales engineering or solutions engineering role within managed IT services, infrastructure, or cybersecurity
  • 2+ years of experience supporting customer account management or customer-facing technical engagements
  • Experience partnering with sales teams to support technical solution development and customer presentations
  • Experience architecting and supporting technologies including but not limited to:
    • Microsoft Azure Public Cloud (required)
    • Microsoft 365
    • Managed IT Infrastructure Services
    • Managed IT Security Services
    • Public and Private Cloud Solutions
    • Network and Server Architecture
    • Endpoint Architecture
