Job Description

This role is based at our Corporate Office in Menomonee Falls, WI. You'll work onsite from Monday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Fridays.

About the Role

As Manager, Customs Compliance, you will protect Kohl's interests by ensuring compliance with all regulations imposed by U.S. Customs and other government agencies.

What You'll Do

  • Implement and direct classification processes for all direct import merchandise

  • Manage annual duty payments to ensure the accuracy of payment and supporting documentation

  • Interact with government agencies, agents and vendors to resolve issues

  • Serve as a US Customs point of contact and ensure compliance

  • Ensure the integrity and clarity of information used for business planning and decision-making and advise business partners with well-researched recommendations and solutions

  • Serve as a point of contact for Product Development and Merchant partners for item classification inquiries

  • Develop or re-design processes to systematically minimize error, increase productivity, and reduce expense

  • Assure quality and precision in research and analysis

  • Manage team in identifying opportunities for duty engineering

  • Encourage and recognize Associates' commitment to self-development, maintain an open and trusting team environment and communicate clear and consistent goals for the team

  • Quarterly travel to Customs brokerage offices and/or training conferences, as necessary

  • Additional tasks may be assigned

What Skills You Have

Required

  • 5+ years in Import Compliance or Global Trade operations.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.

  • Comprehensive understanding of internal controls, U.S. Customs regulations, and partner government agency requirements.

  • Active U.S. Customs Broker License required.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and data/reporting tools

  • Supervisory and people management experience.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and verbal and written communication skills

  • Meticulous attention to detail and data accuracy

  • Ability to lead and manage complex, multi-layered work processes from initiation to completion

  • Thorough knowledge of merchandise classification guidelines utilizing the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS).

  • Strong familiarity with Customs Broker responsibilities and entry processes.

Preferred

  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designation preferred.

  • Experience in retail or high-volume import environments

  • Familiarity with tools such as Qlik, BigQuery, and ACE
