Job description

As a member of the Customs Compliance Department, this position will work closely with clients and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on a regular basis and serve as a key resource for internal stakeholders and the compliance team. Success in this role requires strong judgment, professionalism, and the ability to address sensitive matters accurately and in a timely manner.
Job Responsibilities:
Performs a wide variety of duties including but not limited to:
  • Generate, analyze, and interpret ACE and internal system reports to monitor customs compliance, ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, and identify areas for process improvement.
  • Leverage data analytics tools, including Excel and Power BI, to evaluate trends, detect anomalies, and identify potential compliance risks, providing actionable insights to support strategic decision-making and continuous compliance oversight.
  • Perform data analysis, reconciliations, and regulatory research; track compliance activities, troubleshoot discrepancies, and provide timely resolution to issues identified.
  • Develop and maintain compliance KPIs, dashboards, and management reports to monitor performance, identify trends, and support informed decision-making.
  • Conduct root cause analyses of compliance issues and recommend corrective and preventive actions to strengthen controls and reduce regulatory and operational risks.
  • Perform advanced Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classifications and provide guidance on product classification matters to support accurate customs reporting.
  • Assess, identify, and mitigate trade compliance risks, including tariff exposure, free trade agreement utilization, valuation concerns, country of origin determinations, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and file Post Summary Corrections (PSCs), duty tenders, protests, prior disclosures, and other customs-related submissions as necessary to maintain compliance and resolve regulatory issues.
  • Remain current on applicable laws, regulations, industry guidance, and Deringer requirements by monitoring sources such as the Federal Register, CSMS messages, and International Trade Today (ITT). Analyze regulatory developments and communicate findings and potential impacts to department leadership.
  • Conduct legal and regulatory research related to customs compliance, trade regulations, and operational procedures, and communicate findings in a clear, professional, and actionable manner.

May require occasional travel (less than 10% of time).
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in international Trade, Supply Chain Management, Customs Compliance, Data Science/Analytics or a related field, with a minimum of three (3) - five (5) years of progressive experience in customs brokerage, trade compliance, or a related international trade environment; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) designation highly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of HTS classification and customs compliance regulations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide data-driven recommendations.
  • Experience developing KPIs, dashboards, and management reports to support compliance monitoring and business performance.
  • Proven ability to identify process improvement opportunities and drive operational efficiencies.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and sound decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel; experience with Power BI, Access, or other data analytics tools preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present findings and recommendations.
  • Strong customer service and relationship management skills, including the ability to collaborate with clients, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders.
  • Prior experience in a technical, regulatory, or customs compliance environment preferred.
  • Foreign language proficiency is a plus.

The salary range of compensation for this position will be $65,000-$85,000 based on experience and education.
