Job description

What's the Short Version?

The Customs Compliance Analyst contributes to SanMar's success by supporting the design, development, and implementation of the company's customs compliance program. In partnership with the Senior Customs Compliance Analyst, this role ensures compliance with U.S. Customs and Partner Government Agency regulations and company policies. This role focuses on product classification, research, and providing guidance on customs compliance matters to internal and external stakeholders.

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Ensure proper classification and country of origin determination of all imported products, including writing binding ruling requests as necessary.
  • Maintain classification process documentation, internal systems, and classification database for recordkeeping, audit, and process improvement purposes.
  • Assist with Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) program, including portal maintenance, support of risk assessments, and maintenance of the CTPAT manual.
  • Maintain trade preference program documentation and recordkeeping; conduct product verification reviews to ensure compliance with program requirements according to U.S. Customs regulations.
  • Stay current and maintain working knowledge of CBP and Partner Government Agency regulations and market trends through educational opportunities and reading professional publications.
  • Participate in the review and maintenance of customs compliance policies, procedures, and manuals.
  • Provide support with U.S. Customs, international exports, and internal audits.
  • Support the development of new supplier onboarding processes and associated materials.
  • Contribute to report development using import trade data in ACE and other resources.
  • Assist with new market expansion and global regulation research.
  • Support internal teams with regulatory knowledge
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.

What Are We Looking For?

  • 4-6 years experience trade compliance and/or international trade experience or equivalent education; experience in apparel industry a plus
  • US Customs Broker License strongly preferred
  • Experience with ACE or similar systems a plus
  • Ability to classify products using HTSUS, GRIs, binding rulings, and explanatory notes
  • Working knowledge of import trade regulations including classification, valuation, country of origin, and trade preference programs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong Excel skills, including advanced formulas, data analysis, and reporting capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply new systems (e.g., Power BI, PLM, and other business tools)
  • Ability to manage and review large datasets with strong attention to accuracy
  • Ethical dedication to keeping organization practices and sensitive information confidential.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to simultaneously manage multiple time-sensitive tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills and a commitment to follow through.
  • Ability to build productive relationships and collaborate with cross-functional teams at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

What's Our Offer?

Salary Range: You`ll earn between $80,170 - $100,000 annually, depending on experience.

Bonus: You`ll be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus up to 10% of base salary.

Paid Time Off: You`ll accrue paid time off on a bi-weekly basis based on hours worked up to 112 hours per year to start. Employees also receive 8 paid holidays and 1 paid family day off.

What Should You Expect?

Hybrid: SanMar's Eastpointe office is located in Issaquah, WA in the Seattle metropolitan area. Employees are required to work in our offices Tuesday through Thursday each week and additional days may be added based on business needs. Our standard working hours are 8:00-5:00 PST. Periodic travel may be required. The employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods while working on a computer and participating in virtual and in-person meetings. Frequent use of hands for keyboarding and standard office equipment is required. Occasional standing, walking, and reaching may be needed to attend meetings or collaborate in an office setting. The role requires the ability to perform close visual work on a computer for extended periods. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10-15 pounds.
