This role reports to the Chief Client Experience & Communications Officer and will collaborate with colleagues across all legal and professional functions worldwide.

Responsibilities include:

Creative and Brand Strategy

  • Translate firm strategy into a cohesive brand strategy that enhances differentiation and client engagement across regions.
  • Provide creative direction across communications, content, digital and social media, and event programs.
  • Establish and maintain global brand standards, balancing consistency with cultural and regional adaptation.
  • Oversee visual identity systems, templates, and global asset libraries to ensure brand integrity at scale.

In-House Agency Development with Operational Excellence

  • Grow and scale an in-house creative services function tailored to Gibson Dunn's needs.
  • Identify, select, and implement design technology (project management tools, digital asset manager, brand automation) to enable efficient collaboration across regions.
  • Identify, select, and onboard external agencies as needed to leverage complementary skill sets and augment internal capacity.
Project Management Function
  • Establish a dedicated project management capability within the Creative Design team to ensure timely, efficient, and high-quality delivery of all creative initiatives and campaigns.
  • Define and implement standardized processes for project intake, prioritization, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Introduce project management tools and dashboards to provide visibility into timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Monitor performance metrics and continuously optimize workflows for scalability and efficiency.
Digital Asset Management
  • Oversee the identification, selection, administration and optimization of Digital Asset Management (DAM) platform, ensuring proper organization, metadata tagging, version control, and compliance with brand standards.
  • Develop and enforce governance policies for asset lifecycle management, including upload, storage, retrieval, archival, and user access permissions to maintain data integrity and security.
AI Aptitude
  • Exhibit willingness and aptitude for identifying and implementing AI-driven solutions that improve design speed, scalability, and personalization while maintaining brand integrity.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with emerging AI technologies in creative industries and ability to integrate them thoughtfully into the firm's brand and marketing strategies.
  • Leverage AI tools to enhance creative workflows, including generative design, image creation, and automated content adaptation.
Campaign Leadership
  • Support integrated communications campaigns with cohesive and compelling designs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless, on-brand execution.
  • Measure effectiveness using analytics and adjust strategies to maximize ROI.
Change Management & Adoption
  • Communicate brand guidelines, toolkits, and systems across offices worldwide.
  • Provide brand training and communication plans that embed brand standards.
Team Leadership
  • Manage, grow, and retain a high performing, globally distributed creative team.
  • Establish appropriate resourcing models (designers, project managers, contractors, agencies) to provide 24x7 service to lawyers globally.
  • Foster a culture of creativity, accountability, and innovation.
Qualifications:
  • Global Perspective: Demonstrated success leading brand and creative initiatives across multiple regions (Americas, EMEA, APAC).
  • Creative Leadership: Proven ability to set and articulate a compelling brand vision and inspire creative excellence.
  • Strategic Acumen: Strong track record of aligning brand and design strategy with business goals.
  • Operational Expertise: Experience building and scaling in-house creative services functions.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with PM tools, DAM platforms, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Project Management: Skilled at prioritizing, planning, and delivering complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives.
  • Collaboration & Influence: Exceptional ability to partner with executives, lawyers, and cross-functional professional stakeholders.
  • Team Development: Success in hiring, mentoring, and leading global, diverse design teams.
  • Industry Awareness: Knowledge of design, marketing, and digital trends, with ability to adapt them to a highly professional and confidential client environment. Adept at exploring and implementing AI-driven solutions.
Experience:
  • 15+ years in design, brand, or creative leadership, with at least 7 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in a legal, professional services, or B2B environment is strongly preferred.

Gibson Dunn will consider for employment qualified Applicants with Criminal Histories in a manner consistent with the requirements of local law.

Compensation & Benefits:

The annual compensation range for this position is $280,000 - $325,000. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.

Benefits offered for this position include health care; retirement benefits; paid days off, including sick time, and vacation time; parental leave; basic life insurance; Flexible Spending Accounts; as well as discretionary, performance-based bonuses.
