The Role

We're looking for an Associate Creative Director, Design to help lead the next chapter of the SimplePractice brand. Reporting to the Head of Creative & Creative Director, you'll partner across Brand, Growth, Web, Product Marketing, and Copy & Content Strategy to concept and launch integrated campaigns that strengthen our brand, drive business impact, and elevate our creative standards.

As a member of the Creative Leadership Team, you'll work alongside your ACD peers to shape our creative vision, raise the bar for craft, mentor designers, and help define how our team operates and grows. You'll play a key role in evolving our creative organization by championing AI-enabled ways of working, advancing our design systems, and helping build a high-performing, future-ready team.

This is a hands-on creative leadership role for someone with exceptional taste, a systems-thinking mindset, and a passion for making great work. You'll be equally comfortable developing breakthrough campaign concepts, art directing productions, designing alongside the team, and coaching designers to do the best work of their careers.

Responsibilities
  • Lead creative direction and visual design for integrated brand campaigns across product marketing, paid media, lifecycle, social, video, events, and emerging channels.
  • Partner with the Creative Director, ACD Copy & Content Strategy, Growth, Product Marketing, and cross-functional teams to develop breakthrough campaign concepts that strengthen the brand and drive measurable business outcomes.
  • Create emotionally resonant, strategically grounded work that builds brand awareness, deepens customer connection, and delivers against business objectives.
  • Remain a hands-on creative leader by concepting, designing, prototyping, and art directing alongside the team, setting the standard for creative excellence through both execution and leadership.
  • Help drive the evolution of the creative organization into AI-enabled workflows, scaling speed and experimentation while maintaining brand and creative quality.
  • Raise the creative bar across the organization through exceptional design, art direction, creative feedback, and hands-on leadership.
  • Mentor and develop designers through coaching, performance management, career development, and creative direction while fostering a culture of high creative standards, continuous learning, collaboration, and experimentation.
  • Partner with Creative Leadership on team planning, hiring, onboarding, resource allocation, and workload prioritization to build a high-performing team.
  • Help shape team culture, creative standards, processes, and the long-term evolution of the Creative organization.
  • Build scalable campaign design systems, templates, and creative frameworks that enable consistency while encouraging flexibility.
  • Maintain and evolve the SimplePractice visual identity across channels, ensuring every execution feels fresh, cohesive, and distinctive.
  • Lead art direction for photography, illustration, motion, and video productions, including on-set creative direction with internal teams and external production partners.
  • Collaborate closely with Web, Copy & Content Strategy, Growth, and Product Marketing to create seamless, integrated customer experiences across every touchpoint.
  • Stay at the forefront of design, advertising, AI, and visual culture, bringing fresh ideas, inspiration, emerging technologies, and best practices back to the team.
Desired Skills & Experience
  • 10-14 years of experience in brand design, art direction, advertising, or integrated creative, either agency-side, in-house, or both.
  • An exceptional portfolio that demonstrates outstanding creative taste across integrated campaigns, visual identity systems, digital design, and art direction.
  • Strong conceptual thinker with experience developing integrated campaign ideas and the ability to balance creative leadership with hands-on design execution.
  • Ability to connect creative thinking with business outcomes, developing work that builds brand awareness, drives engagement, and supports growth.
  • Deep understanding of typography, layout, storytelling, visual systems, and contemporary design.
  • Experience building and evolving scalable brand design systems.
  • AI-forward in your approach to design, with experience leveraging AI-enabled workflows to accelerate ideation, iteration, and production while maintaining exceptional creative quality and brand consistency. You know where automation adds value and where human judgment and craft are essential.
  • Experience leading creative on set for brand photography and video productions, partnering with photographers, directors, talent, and production teams to bring creative concepts to life.
  • Experience leading, mentoring, and inspiring designers through thoughtful feedback, coaching, and creative direction while fostering a culture of high creative standards, continuous learning, collaboration, and experimentation.
  • Highly proficient in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and modern creative workflows.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing channels and platform-specific design best practices.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to build trust, articulate creative rationale, and influence cross-functional partners and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to deliver high-quality work across multiple projects and priorities.
  • Motion design, photography, or video art direction experience strongly preferred.

Base salary is one component of total compensation. Employees may also be eligible for an annual bonus or commission. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay.

The amount below represents the expected annual base compensation range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we'll consider many factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors.
