Job description

Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented in response to the status of the State budget. PLP 2025 requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 15 , and related Excluded, Exempt and Statutory Exempt employees, will have their base salary reduced by 3 percent and will receive 5 hours PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes.
Limited Term 12 months; may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.
Under the general direction of the Food Administrator I, Correctional Facility (CF), the Supervising Correctional Cook (SCC), Department of Corrections (DOC) directs, trains, and supervises Cook Specialist I, CF staff and inmates preparing and serving meals and storing food and supplies at the Diet Kitchen at a correctional facility. The SCC, DOC is responsible for maintaining culinary equipment in sanitary and clean working order, and maintaining the work area clean and orderly. The SCC, DOC interprets and verifies compliance with regulations that govern the sanitation and safety of all aspects of the food service program.
Minimum Qualifications Either I
One year in the California state civil service performing the duties of a Correctional Supervising Cook (Correctional Facility).
Or II
Two years of experience in a supervisory capacity over cooks and allied workers with responsibility for supervising, planning, and scheduling the preparation, cooking, and serving of three meals a day for at least 300 persons per meal.

Tuberculosis (TB) testing is required for candidates new to CCHCS prior to appointment followed by department annual TB testing/evaluation thereafter.
