Summary

Precision BioSciences, Inc. is seeking a Chief of Staff and Investor Relations Lead to work closely with the CEO, CFO, and senior leadership team (SLT) to drive the critical operational, strategic, and external-facing priorities of our growing company. This is a highly strategic and facilitative role that requires strong emotional intelligence, self-motivation, and analytical skill. As trusted counsel to the CEO and CFO, the role will make time, information, and decision-making more effective; oversee and drive strategic internal projects across all functions represented on the SLT; and foster alignment and effective ways of working across the SLT. The role will also play a critical part in Board relations, including the preparation of Board materials and support of Board interactions.

In addition, the role will support Precision’s investor relations and corporate communications strategy. This includes working with Finance and Investor Relations to manage external relationships and ensure clear, consistent communication with the investment community, including current shareholders, prospective shareholders, and the financial analysts covering the company, as well as coordinate events such as earnings calls, investor events, and management roadshows. This role will keep senior management apprised of investor sentiment, provide the Board and management with updated information on Precision’s shareholders and analyst projections, and lead corporate communications both internally and externally.

Chief of Staff

  • Serve as trusted counsel to the CEO and CFO; manage the flow of information to and from the CEO so that the CEO is always prepared
  • Drive all senior leadership team (SLT) meetings, including preparation of agendas, capture of action items, and follow-up to ensure completion; foster alignment and effective ways of working across the SLT
  • Prepare and coordinate Board materials and support Board interactions; attend Board meetings and capture and distribute minutes and action items
  • Assist the CEO in driving key initiatives, identifying pain points across the organization, and recommending changes and improvements; anticipate and avert problems
  • Oversee and drive strategic internal projects across all SLT functions, ensuring appropriate prioritization, integration of workstreams, and follow-through; monitor progress and report to the CEO and CFO
  • Support the development of executive-level presentations, building and integrating slide decks for internal and external meetings

Investor Relations and Corporate Communications

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the financial community; establish and maintain excellent relationships with institutional investors, key retail investors, and analysts, articulating Precision’s mission and corporate strategy
  • Organize and attend investor interactions; help shape and drive the investor narrative, including non-deal roadshows and presentations to external stakeholders and shareholders
  • Coordinate earnings calls, investor events, and management roadshows; represent Precision at financial and industry conferences and medical meetings, including one-on-one investor meetings
  • Develop key communication materials in collaboration with senior leadership for analyst events, presentations, roadshows, earnings releases, and other announcements; partner with the CFO on investor targeting and proactive engagement
  • Keep senior management apprised of investor sentiment and provide the Board and management with updated information on Precision’s shareholders and analyst projections
  • Lead corporate communications, both internal and external, including press releases, Q&A documents, key messaging, the corporate website, and social media channels, ensuring consistent messaging across audiences
  • Provide review and commentary on SEC filings, including the annual report, and support Precision’s ESG reporting strategy

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job successfully.

Required:

  • BA or BS and 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, including experience in investor and/or public relations, corporate strategy, or corporate communications, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong background in strategy execution and project management, with a proven track record of guiding cross-functional teams, influencing major initiatives, and running planning processes that set business direction
  • Successful track record of interfacing with the investment community, engaging with CEOs and Boards of public companies, and presenting at high-touch executive meetings
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific and financial information clearly and concisely to internal and external audiences
  • Demonstrated emotional intelligence, sound judgment, discretion, and diplomacy; uncompromising ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including advanced Excel, data analysis, and financial modelling; skilled user of PowerPoint
  • Scientific background and understanding of the biotechnology industry and marketplace
  • Team-oriented, highly motivated, and execution-focused, with a strong work ethic and the ability to thrive in a high-growth, entrepreneurial environment
  • Extremely detail- and process-oriented, with demonstrated initiative and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

  • MBA
  • Prior management consulting, investment banking, or buy-side experience
  • Knowledge of SEC and disclosure requirements

Travel Requirements

This position requires extensive travel, up to 50%, sometimes international, including investor conferences, roadshows, and travel to all applicable office locations.

This position may be performed remotely, with travel to the main headquarters in Durham, NC on a monthly basis or as needed.
