How much do corporate insurance jobs pay per year?
What is corporate insurance?
A Corporate Insurance job involves managing a company's insurance needs, including risk assessment, policy selection, and claims handling. Professionals in this field work to protect businesses from financial losses due to accidents, legal liabilities, or unforeseen events. They collaborate with insurers, brokers, and internal stakeholders to ensure adequate coverage and cost-effective risk management.
What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in corporate insurance?
To excel in Corporate Insurance, you need strong analytical abilities, a sound understanding of risk management, and an educational background in finance, business, or a related field. Familiarity with insurance management software, risk assessment tools, and certifications such as CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter) or ARM (Associate in Risk Management) are highly valued. Exceptional communication, relationship building, and negotiation skills set you apart in this client-focused environment. These competencies are vital for properly assessing risks, designing effective coverage, and ensuring seamless communication with clients and underwriters.
What are the main challenges faced by professionals working in corporate insurance?
Corporate Insurance professionals often navigate complex risk scenarios for large organizations, requiring a detail-oriented approach to assess and mitigate diverse risks. They may face challenges such as keeping up with changes in insurance regulations, negotiating tailored policies, and managing claims efficiently while balancing the interests of clients and insurers. The pace can be fast and the stakes high, especially when handling large portfolios or high-value accounts. However, this dynamic environment also provides opportunities to develop expertise in specialized insurance areas and to build lasting client relationships across various industries.

As a Corporate Insurance Associate in the Corporate Insurance team, you will demonstrate proficiency in managing multi-state casualty claims, including workers' compensation and general liability. The position also demands the ability to represent the team at annual offsites and industry conferences, a commitment to continuous process improvement and innovation, and engagement with the corporate insurance sector.
Job responsibilities:
Manage casualty claims (workers' compensation, general liability, and auto liability) for a specified geographic region.
Assist stakeholders with the claims process, including incident reporting, accommodating work restrictions, facilitating return to work, ensuring claims are adequately reserved, and participating in the discovery process for litigated matters.
Evaluate adjuster, vendor, and defense counsel performance; make changes as needed.
Partner with internal and external teams to understand data needs; help maintain reporting.
Create and participate in presentations and discussions.
Understand AI platforms and tools; help identify and implement applications.
Assist with Corporate Insurance contract reviews and other ad hoc projects.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
Degree in Business, Finance, Communications, or related field.
3 years of experience in business, insurance, finance, or related discipline.
Insurance background not required, but curiosity and willingness to learn about insurance is essential.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced team environment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a "can-do" attitude.
Proven experience in project management.
Self-motivated, tenacious, and able to work with some oversight, but also independently.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Experience with claims management systems and data platforms; direct experience with Riskonnect a plus.
Prior experience working with third-party administrators or insurance vendors.
