About The Role

Reporting to the VP, Tax, you will serve as Volta’s US tax lead and own the day-to-day delivery of the US tax function. You will be responsible for US federal, state and local tax compliance, tax accounting and reporting, while supporting the development and implementation of US tax strategy as the business grows.

This is a hands‑on role for an experienced US tax professional who wants significant ownership and the opportunity to build scalable tax processes within a fast-growing, global comany. You will be work closely with finance, legal and external advisers and act as a principal day‑to‑day contact for US tax matters.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Lead US federal, state, and local tax compliance, including returns, estimated payments, extensions, elections and responses to tax notices.

  • Support the development and lead the implementation of US tax strategies that enable business growth while appropriately managing tax risk.

  • Partner with finance on US elements of quarterly and annual tax accounting under ASC 740, including current and deferred tax calculations, tax account reconciliations, uncertain tax positions and audit support.

  • Manage relationships with external tax advisors and auditors, including coordinating tax audits tax authority inquiries and specialist advice.

  • Monitor changes in US tax legislation and assess their impact on Volta's operations, updating processes as needed.

  • Advice finance, legal commercial and other stakeholders on the US tax implications of new entities, products, contracts, financing arrangements, business models and corporate transactions.

  • Lead US tax matters arising from cross-border operations and intercompany arrangements, including withholding, information reporting, US international tax considerations and transfer pricing, in coordination with the VP, Tax and external advisers.

  • Oversee relevant state and local tax matters, including income and franchise tax, sales and use taxes, property taxes, gross‑receipts taxes and tax incentives, working with specialist advisers where appropriate.

  • Establish and maintain the US tax calendar, controls, documentation standard and data requirements, and identify opportunities to automate recurring compliance, accounting and reporting processes.

  • Support the VP, Tax and the wider finance team on tax aspects of financial planning, financing, M&A, and corporate structuring.

What You Bring
  • Currently within a multi‑entity company and / or at a Big 4 or national accounting firm

  • Strong technical knowledge of US federal corporate income tax and experience with tax accounting and provisioning under ASC 740.

  • Experience managing state and local tax matters; experience with US international tax and cross‑border arrangements is highly desirable.

  • CPA or comparable professional qualification preferred

  • Experience managing tax audits and relationships with tax authorities and external advisors

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, comfortable working with complex tax and financial data

  • Excellent communication skills, able to translate technical tax matters into clear guidance for non‑tax stakeholders

  • Experience working in a fast‑growing, multi‑entity, or international business, with the ability to build processes in an evolving environment

  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills, able to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
