Job description

Forget the mundane, typical tax office. Managed by a dual-credentialed Enrolled Agent and United States Tax Court Practitioner (USTCP), our firm navigates intricate tax challenges with elite precision, strategic insight, and a sharp wit. To us, tax preparation is far more than data entry; it is a vital puzzle where meticulous accuracy shields our clients and drives our collective success.

We are seeking a proactive, sharp Tax Preparer who finds fulfillment in a perfect spreadsheet, takes deep pride in their craftsmanship, and is eager to advance within a premier firm.

What We Look For: The Non-Negotiables

If you match the description below, you are exactly who we are looking for:

  • Tax Experience & Credentials: You bring 2+ years of experience in a professional tax office setting. You hold an active tax credential or possess deep familiarity with the industry (EA, AFSP, or a similar robust background).
  • Extreme Attention to Detail: You don’t just spot typos; you actively "self-check" your work before anyone else ever sees it. Quality, precision, and bulletproof accuracy are your personal signatures.
  • Personal Tax Integrity: Walk the walk. It is non-negotiable that you are fully compliant and 100% up-to-date with all of your own federal, state, and local tax filings.
  • Professional Communication: You possess elite written and verbal communication skills. You can draft flawless, professional emails and manage sensitive client interactions with high emotional intelligence and expertise.
  • Ownership & Innovation: You bring a proactive attitude and a sharp mind to the table. Instead of waiting to be told how to fix a problem, you treat every operational hurdle as a chance to refine and improve our internal systems.
  • Technical Aptitude: You are a certified "power user" of Google Workspace and Microsoft Office, and you pride yourself on your ability to master new software platforms at lightning speed.
  • Local Logistics: You have a valid driver’s license, active auto insurance, and a currently registered/inspected vehicle, making you ready and reliable for occasional professional errands.

The "Awesome to Have" Bonuses

  • A strong bookkeeping and payroll background—specifically, mastery of QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Payroll.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

  • Prepare accurate federal and state individual and business tax returns.
  • Conduct meticulous self-reviews of financial documents and tax data to ensure zero-defect accuracy.
  • Communicate directly with clients to gather necessary documentation, clarify information, and deliver updates with professional polish.
  • Identify bottlenecks in our current workflows and propose/implement tech-driven solutions.
  • Assist with local firm logistics and administrative errands as needed to keep the wheels turning smoothly.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Learn from the Best: Work directly with a USTCP—a rare and elite designation in the tax world. Your professional growth here will be fast-tracked.
  • No Micro-management: We hire adults. If you prove you have the ownership and attention to detail we require, you will be given the autonomy to thrive.
  • A Culture of Wit and Excellence: We take our work incredibly seriously, but we don't take ourselves too seriously. Expect a supportive, sharp, and engaging work environment.

Work Schedule & Culture

  • Hours: 25 to 40 hours per week, scaling up to meet critical tax deadlines (including the October rush).
  • Environment: A collaborative, inclusive, and highly productive in-office environment where self-motivation is noticed, rewarded, and groomed for advancement.
  • Background Check: Must be willing to undergo a standard background check.

How to Apply

If you are a fast, accurate learner who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants a role where your organization directly impacts the bottom line, we want to hear from you.
