Position at Vassar Brothers Medical Center
Summary:
The Maintenance Mechanic will perform general maintenance repairs, general labor support and life safety inspections for all assigned equipment and facilities infrastructure to maintain a safe, secure, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing environment. Task may include but are not limited to plumbing, electric, carpentry, painting, and HVAC.
Responsibilities:
  1. Performs minor plumbing repairs or maintenance such as repairing plumbing fixtures and clearing clogged drains and toilets. May assist tradesman plumber with more extensive plumbing work when necessary.
  2. Performs minor electrical work such as replacing outlets, switches, and lamps. May assist tradesman electrician with more extensive electrical work when necessary.
  3. Performs minor carpentry work, such as drywall installation, installation of shelving and other wall hung fixtures, ceiling tiles, wall protection and cove molding. May assist the tradesman carpenter with more extensive carpentry work when necessary.
  4. Performs painting and patching work as necessary to maintain the appearance of the hospital
  5. Performs minor HVAC work such as validating room temperature and adjusting stats. May assist the HVAC Tradesman with more extensive HVAC work when necessary.
  6. Performs grounds maintenance as required on all hospital properties.
  7. Performs snow removal assignments during winter months as necessary to ensure staff and visitor safety.
  8. Performs life safety inspections and documentation without fail. Inspections include but are not limited to fire extinguishers, exit signs, generators, fuel leak detection and fire department connections.
  9. Responds to all code reds when active during your work shift.
  10. Performs and completes work assignments in a professional and timely manner as to not waste time and resources.
  11. Completes work orders and time sheets with all pertinent information. Information includes brief description of the work performed, time spent on task and indication if the work is complete or in progress. Information shall be passed on to department administration daily.
  12. Completes request for materials as needed to complete assigned work orders.
  13. Maintains and Models Nuvance Health Values.
  14. Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance.
  15. Performs other duties as required.

Education Skills Experience:
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:
  • Experience with one or more of the trades listed above: Plumbing, Electric, Carpentry, Painting, and HVAC
