Job Summary:

A successful Controls Sales Engineer at Critical Systems is expected to generate revenue and achieve margin goals by delivering exceptional customer service through the sale and execution of building automation HVAC systems projects. This individual will identify and provide building automation solutions that help clients achieve their environmental, and operational objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prospecting and Relationship Building: Identify and develop relationships with new clients, including building owners, end-users, engineers, and contractors.
  • Product Knowledge: Develop a comprehensive understanding of Critical Systems offerings and stay informed about industry trends and competitive products.
  • Account Management: Utilize account management strategies for target customers, ensuring quality standards are maintained for both pre-sale and post-sale support.
  • Sales Planning and Execution: Develop and implement action plans to improve project closure rates and generate profitable business, including performing needs assessments and preparing sales proposals, estimates, and presentations.
  • Team Collaboration: Support coordinated sales efforts with equipment sales groups within Critical Systems, working effectively in a team-selling environment.
  • Client Engagement: Work with existing and prospective clients to understand project goals, conducting site surveys and developing solutions that meet their needs.
  • Proposal Development: Prepare and deliver professional proposals, negotiate pricing, and establish contract terms and conditions with customers.
  • Project Coordination: Collect and communicate pertinent project information to operations for accurate estimates, coordinate site reviews, and engage in project execution as required.
  • Market Awareness: Maintain knowledge of local utility incentive programs and leverage rebates to enhance project closure rates and margins.
  • Customer Follow-Up: Follow up with key decision-makers to secure orders and ensure customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Professional Development: Participate in industry events, trade shows, and continuous learning opportunities to enhance product knowledge and sales skills.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of three years experience in HVAC controls sales, engineering, or marketing.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and deliver measurable results.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, control systems, building automation, and energy management.
