The Controller reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The following positions report to the Controller: (e.g.; general accounting staff, Payroll, Accounts Payable.) The Controller is to assist the CFO in safeguarding hospital assets and ensuring the financial statements, including the books and records, are prepared and maintained in accordance with GAAP.  Like the CFO, the Controller is responsible for ensuring compliance with company financial and accounting policies and procedures and also ensuring internal controls are effective in both design and operation, including the routine monitoring of controls.  The Controller is to ensure the monthly close deadlines are timely met, account reconciliation and supporting documentation is maintained for all activities, account analysis is performed, prepare various packages as requested (e.g., cost report, tax, etc.), and to assist in various projects as requested. The Controller is to assist the CFO who is responsible for the identification and independent assessment of financial risk, establishment and monitoring of mitigation plans, and for the communication of financial risk and opportunity to the regional CFO and hospital CEO.  The Controller is to assist the CFO in the monitoring of the financial performance and the maintenance of reasonable and appropriate financial plans and forecasts.

Doctors Medical Center (DMC), part of the Central Valley Doctors Health System, is the largest full-care hospital between Stockton and Fresno, and from the Sierras to the San Francisco Bay Area, with a 394-bed general acute care and a 67-bed inpatient psychiatric capacity. Minimum Education:

Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. CPA designation or an advanced degree would be a plus.

Minimum Experience/Skills:

At least 5 years of progressive financial health care or equivalent experience in the areas of general accounting; financial systems; financial statement preparation; review and analysis; multi-discipline management experience; ethics; and excellent communication skills. Unquestionable ethics, as well as style and substance that generates respect and credibility. Resilience to working under pressure. Demonstrated ability to motivate, challenge and develop professional staff. Ability to work across functional lines to engage disparate resources to work together to achieve results. Common sense with a solid generalist background. Ability to convert complex finance, operational, and compliance issues into terms and concepts that are easily disseminated throughout all levels of the organization.
