Job description

Position : Desktop Publisher (Must Have InDesign, Illustrator, FrameMaker & Typography)

Location : Sparks, MD

Duration : 12 Months contract

Total Hours/week : 40.00

Level Of Experience: Mid-Level

Employment Type: Contract on W2 (Need US Citizens Or GC Holders Only)

Shift: 8-4 or 9-5pm

3 must have's on resume:

  • Experience in desktop publishing (InDesign, Illustrator, FrameMaker)Knowledge of typography, fonts, proofreading, document formatting, desktop publishing, page layout and design, publication stylesAbility to handle multiple projects with excellent follow-up skills
  • The Desktop Publisher is responsible for electronically creating and revising new and revised technical labelling documentation for products marketed by BDLS.
  • This associate will use Adobe Acrobat, MS Word, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe FrameMaker software applications to assemble information, organize data and release final documents in PDF format.
  • Additional responsibilities include supporting the Labelling, Technical Writing and Translation Specialists.

Job Description:

Responsibilities:

  • Creates, revises and reviews product labeling including labels, package inserts and user's manuals to assure compliance/conformity with existing Corporate, Regulatory and Global (ISO, PAL, etc.) guidelines
  • Studies and reviews dielines, drawings, and prototypes to create BDLS official documentation.
  • Works with Labelling Specialists/Technical Writers/Translation Specialists to develop/revise product documentation and determine specifications for: type style, font size, clarity and conformity of wording, formatting and print paper.
  • Edits files into different formats.
  • Produces final print PDFs for print vendor use.
  • Produces web formatted documents for electronic storage on the client e-labeling website.
  • Performs editing/proofreading on a variety of documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Reviews vendor specifications for technical documentation, and develops and maintains departmental graphic standards.
  • Incorporates multilingual edits in translated documents.
  • Assesses complexity of softcopy/hardcopy job (I.e. number of pages, graphics, text boxes, footnotes, index, table of contents, running heads and feet) and provides time–based estimate for completion.
  • Communicates effectively with all levels of management, business units (Corporate and International), and possesses a high degree of flexibility/selectivity in prioritizing business units and plant projects to meet established goals.
  • Participates in the activities of professional and trade organizations through attendance at meetings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in graphics, with a minimum of three years’ experience in desktop publishing (InDesign, Illustrator, FrameMaker), or equivalent combination of related education and experience. Labeling/packaging development experience required.
  • Multilingual DTP (InDesign/FrameMaker) experience preferable.
  • Considerable knowledge of typography, fonts, proofreading, document formatting, desktop publishing, page layout and design, publication styles.
  • Ability to independently participate in group projects, develop timelines for projects, communicate effectively and implement projects.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects with excellent follow-up skills.
  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, MS Excel, Visio, PowerPoint).
  • Detail-oriented and have the ability to work under deadline pressure; must be able to deal with unresolved situations, frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.
  • HTML and Java experience preferred.
