Job Description
Manufacturing Engineer, Ithaca, MI
BASIC PURPOSE
Process development and industrialization for new products, and improvement of existing processes.
MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education and/or Experience
Associate degree or Bachelor's degree (B. A.)a plus from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Plus 5+ years of experience in a component manufacturing business. Rubber to metal molding engineering experience a must.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Position responsibilities include:
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment for all employees by following company safety rules, regulations and procedures. Enforce and adhere to all PPE requirements. Contribute to a Safety First Culture by identifying Risky Situations.
  • Perform as technical liaison with production planning, operations and product engineering personnel
  • Plan and design manufacturing processes, as part of the project team, and following APQP principles if requested.
  • Maximize efficiency by analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods and work force utilization
  • Review and evaluate proposed and processed engineering changes and/or other specification requirements.
  • Overview prototypes making operations during product development to ensure future manufacturability
  • Troubleshooting of main process issues, including tooling issues
  • Implement process improvements to drive tighter capability of our manufacturing processes (application of SPC principles)

Qualification Requirements
  • Experience in adhesives and application of the adhesives to metals used in rubber to metal molding
  • Proven track record in program management and leadership, with the ability to communicate at all levels
  • Knowledge of design and development of molding tooling, lean manufacturing, and equipment design and assembly engineering
  • Experience working in a ISO/TS/AS 9100 environment
  • SPC expert
