How much do contract automation jobs pay per year?

As of Jun 4, 2026, the average yearly pay for contract automation in the United States is $107,126.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $86,500.00 and $123,500.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in Contract Automation, and why are they important?

To excel in Contract Automation, a strong understanding of contract law, process optimization, and document management is essential, often supported by a background in legal studies or business administration. Familiarity with contract lifecycle management (CLM) software, automation tools like DocuSign or Ironclad, and workflow systems is typically required. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are vital soft skills for managing complex agreements and collaborating across teams. These competencies are crucial for streamlining contract processes, reducing risk, and ensuring compliance in fast-paced business environments.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in contract automation roles, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in contract automation often encounter challenges such as integrating new automation tools with existing legacy systems, ensuring data accuracy, and managing change among stakeholders unfamiliar with digital processes. Addressing these issues typically involves collaborating closely with IT teams, providing training to end-users, and regularly reviewing workflows to identify bottlenecks. Staying updated on best practices and fostering open communication across departments can also help smooth the transition to automated contract management.

What is contract automation?

Contract automation is the use of software and digital tools to streamline and simplify the process of creating, managing, and executing contracts. It helps organizations reduce manual work, minimize errors, and speed up contract cycles by automating repetitive tasks such as drafting, reviewing, and signing documents. This technology is especially useful for legal, procurement, and sales teams who handle large volumes of contracts. By automating contracts, businesses can improve compliance, increase efficiency, and gain better visibility into their contractual obligations.

Job description

Company Description

We are a boutique IT recruiting agency that strictly works with IT consulting companies and managed services providers.  We place candidates on a permanent, full time basis (no contract or contract-to-hire positions).

Job Description

AI Automation Specialist

Remote | 1099 Contract | Potential W2 Conversion

We’re looking for an AI Automation Specialist who can help established businesses use AI and automation in practical, measurable ways. This is a remote 1099 contract role with the potential to convert to a full-time W2 position for the right person.

This is not a strategy-only role. We need someone who can actually build, deploy, test and improve AI-powered workflows inside real business environments.

What You’ll Do

  • Deploy AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT within business environments, ideally using Team or Enterprise-level subscriptions

  • Build and maintain automation workflows using n8n, Zapier or similar tools

  • Connect AI tools into daily operations so teams can reduce repetitive manual work

  • Help businesses improve turnaround times, internal capacity and overall efficiency

  • Design, test and refine workflows that support real operational needs

  • Work with business teams to understand bottlenecks and turn them into practical automation solutions

  • Troubleshoot, improve and document workflows as they evolve

What We’re Looking For

  • Hands-on experience implementing Claude, ChatGPT or similar AI tools in business settings

  • Experience with Team or Enterprise-level AI subscriptions is strongly preferred

  • Strong automation experience with n8n preferred; Zapier experience is also valuable

  • Ability to build practical workflows that solve real business problems

  • Comfort working independently in a remote contract role

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to translate business needs into working systems

  • A bias toward implementation, testing and iteration — not just recommendations

Why This Role Matters

Most growing businesses lose time and momentum because their teams are buried in repetitive work. The right automation systems help people move faster, reduce friction and focus on higher-value work.

You’ll help build those systems.

Details

  • Remote

  • 1099 contract to start

  • Potential to convert to full-time W2 employment

  • Best fit for someone who enjoys building useful systems, improving workflows and helping businesses operate more efficiently

If you have real experience bringing AI and automation into business operations, we’d like to talk.
