Continuous Improvement Engineer

Position Overview

Shaw Industries is hiring a Continuous Improvement Engineer to be responsible for leading continuous improvement projects, andthetraining,coachingand mentoringofcontinuous improvement sourcesforPlant65inAndalusia,AL.This position is also responsible for deploying corporate continuous improvement initiatives within Plant 65.The CIEngineerwillreport directlyto the Extrusion Plant Managerwith dotted line reporting to theResidentialPremiumDivisionalContinuous Improvement Leader.

Areas

Strategy

  • This position assists in planning activities toassureproject deliverables and other work are producedtimelyand outcomes are achievedin accordance withestablished protocols and proceduresincludingplanning and facilitation of annual strategic planning. TheCI Engineerwill alsofacilitateassigned team activities such as team meetings,kaizen events,and project deliverables.

  • Expertconsultantto project teams andplantmanagement on program decisions, strategy, design, and analysis methods, and if needed, leads investigation (with collaboration from internal and/or external experts) to support process improvement efforts.

  • Investigate and innovate withnew technologiesthat promote Continuous Improvement behaviors,eliminatewaste, and improve efficiency. Work closely and collaboratively with teams.

  • Provides thought leadership andparticipatesin division process improvement programs.

  • Lead objective annual assessments on the health of Continuous Improvement, LSW, Tier systems across the plant.

Growth

  • This position will help grow revenue and profitability by improving quality and lead times that willadd valueforour customers. This position is accountable for improvements in associate engagement, safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity.

People

  • Responsible for attracting,retainingand growth of themanufacturinglevel process improvementresources.

  • Oversee the growth and development ofcontinuous improvement traineesat all levels across thefacility.

  • Highly involved in increasing the engagement of our associates across thefacility.

  • Have superior leadership abilities; able to develop andestablishlong-term relationships.

  • Demonstrate andmaintainclear, effective written and verbal communications at the individual anddivisionallevel -maintaintransparency and clarity of the business plan, short term initiatives, and how individual employees support each.

Drive Results

  • Document activities and develop feedbackreportto communicate project outcomes and/or findings and activities to collaborators andothersinvolved.This includes calculation and reporting of savings related to activities.

Requirements

  • This position must have a passion for aculture ofcontinuous improvement; have the presence and leadershiprequiredto enact plant and divisional change; be approachable yet demanding;possessexceptional ability to coach internal and external teams.

  • Proven extensive use of Kaizen, Leader Standard Work and Standard Work, 5S tools.

  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills with attention to detail.

  • Proven ability to work on several projects simultaneously and under tight schedules.

  • Knowledge of data collection and interpretation; certified blackbeltpreferred

  • Experience in project management, associated principles, and tools are preferred.

  • Tenacity toaccomplishtasks, follow-through, and meet deadlines.

  • Leads change management efforts to ensure seamless, flawless execution and engage support fromdivisionalleadership to the process level.

  • Partners withkey stakeholdersto develop detailed, comprehensive execution strategies and plans.

  • Develops and supports productive relationships with business partners.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field

  • Additionaltrainingsuch as Green Belt preferred
