What does a Content Protection job involve?

A Content Protection job focuses on safeguarding digital media, intellectual property, and proprietary content from piracy, unauthorized distribution, and infringement. Professionals in this field monitor online platforms, enforce copyright policies, and work with legal and technology teams to prevent leaks or illegal use. They also use digital rights management (DRM) tools, watermarking, and content tracking systems to detect and prevent violations. This role is crucial for media companies, streaming services, and brands looking to protect their assets in the digital space.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Content Protection position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Content Protection specialist, you need a deep understanding of digital rights management, anti-piracy tactics, and intellectual property law, often supported by a degree in information technology, media, or law. Familiarity with content tracking software, watermarking tools, monitoring systems, and certifications like CIPP or similar are highly valued. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and clear communication skills set candidates apart in this field. These abilities are crucial because they enable professionals to effectively safeguard digital assets, navigate evolving threats, and collaborate with technical and legal teams.

What are some common challenges faced in a Content Protection role, and how does the team address them?

Content Protection professionals frequently encounter challenges such as rapidly evolving digital piracy tactics, large-scale unauthorized distribution, and keeping up with new technology platforms. Teams address these challenges by consistently updating monitoring tools, collaborating closely with legal and IT departments, and conducting regular training on the latest trends in content security. The work is collaborative and often cross-functional, requiring coordination with legal counsel, technical experts, and external partners. Staying adaptable and proactive is key to maintaining the integrity and value of the company's intellectual property.

Encore Fire Protection rating

6.7

Company rating: 6.7 out of 10

Job description

At Encore Fire Protection, we are proud to be the east coast's largest full-service fire protection company, serving over 90,000 customers from Maine to Louisiana. With a team of over 2,200 dedicated employees, we provide innovative, customized fire suppression, fire sprinkler, and fire alarm solutions that protect lives and properties every day.

Our goal is to deliver superior experience to those who trust us to safeguard what matters most. We are passionate about continuous growth, innovation, and maintaining a culture that thrives on success and commitment to safety. Our mission? To be the best fire protection company the industry has ever seen.

For the creatively-inclined, an opportunity to showcase your talents at a fire protection company might sound underwhelming, but this is a unique opportunity for a creative individual to make a huge mark in an industry that you likely never considered.

Encore is seeking a multi-talented, creative force, who is adept at generating compelling content across diverse platforms. This is not a graphic design position. This is not a copywriter’s position. And this is not a social media or content manager position. It is all those things rolled into one, and to excel in this position you must be equally skilled in all three.

The Creative Content and Design Manager will be joining the Culture and Engagement division of our Talent, Culture, and People (TCP) Team. The right person will quickly become the cornerstone of our strategy: assisting with everything from internal communications and social media content to marketing materials and presentation decks. Lots of presentation decks!

Your Path to Success

In your first 90-days: You will focus on listening, learning, and absorbing our culture. You will have a ton of creative freedom but understanding our why will be critical for producing content that is on brand and resonates within our team and with our customers.

Post-90 Days: Once you really understand what we are all about, you will transition to content development: transforming ideas and themes into emails, newsletters, video concepts, and/or presentations tailored for a wide range of audiences, from field technicians to executive leaders.

Long-Term Plan: As you evolve, we see you not just executing but assuming responsibility for coming up with the original themes and ideas that guide our engagement strategy.

  • Regularly produce original content for a variety of forums, including quarterly operations meetings, virtual and/or in person leadership discussions, blog posts, internal newsletters, maybe even a podcast!
  • Design and maintain a versatile, template-based presentation deck that makes it easy for our teammates to convert their own ideas into eye-catching presentations whenever needed.
  • Engage in continuous learning about industry trends, our company's role within the space, and strategies for maintaining our competitive edge.

What Will Make You Stand Out?

Your portfolio will tell us almost everything we need to know but be prepared to talk to us about:

  • How well do you accept feedback. The design process is iterative and sometimes your best ideas won’t “land.” When that happens, how will you keep yourself motivated?
  • Your prior experience in content creation, copywriting, and design
  • Examples of your writing. It can be business related, or not. We just want to get a feel for your communication style.
  • Your ability to develop content themes and design creative delivery methods.
  • The content management systems, social media platforms, and presentation software you are experienced in.
  • You might have worked in a fast-paced position before, but I assure you this is faster. How do you stay organized and successfully manage multiple priorities at once
  • If you don’t have a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Design, or a related field that’s OK but you’ll need to convince us that you’ve got comparable experience to make you succeed.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% across Encore locations to identify and capture content opportunities while immersing in the unique microcultures of each business unit to ensure content reflects on-the-ground realities and resonates with diverse teams.

Why Encore?

At Encore, we’re all about creating a culture where success is celebrated. We recognize that our work makes people’s lives safer, and we reward those who contribute to our growth. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Competitive Pay: Salary commensurate with experience with opportunity for a results-driven bonus based on personal output and effectiveness in role. Expected base salary ranges between $80,000 - $90,000 per year.
  • Tuition Assistance: Paid tuition for fire protection-related schooling needed to obtain licensing.
  • Purpose-Driven Work Environment: We believe in working smarter, not harder. You’ll be part of a culture that values results, and we empower our team to focus on impactful work.
  • Swag: High-quality company swag and attire (t-shirts, hoodies, jackets) – at least twice a year.
  • People-Focused Culture: We know our greatest strength is our people. That’s why we’ve built a culture that encourages experimentation, learning, and improving together. You’ll have the space to share your ideas and help shape a company that is constantly growing.
  • Tools for Success: Access to leading-edge web-based productivity tools.
  • Health and Wellness: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage to keep you and your family healthy.
  • Retirement Planning: Participation in our Fidelity 401(k) plan with a company match, helping you save for your future.
  • Life Insurance: Company-paid life insurance policy of $50,000 to give you peace of mind.

We are an Equal Opportunity Employer, committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.
