ABOUT THIS ROLE
As the Director of Software Development for Fraud Defense Engineering, you will lead the engineering team responsible for protecting Audible's business integrity. Your primary focus will be Fraud Defense - designing, developing, and scaling the tools and platforms that proactively detect, prevent, and mitigate fraud and piracy across all Audible marketplaces. You will also provide engineering leadership for Strategic Data Regulation and Technology Resilience initiatives, ensuring Audible's services are recoverable, compliant, and trustworthy.
You will own the technical vision and delivery for purpose-built solutions that power fraud detection and investigation, protect content rights, ensure disaster recovery readiness, and maintain compliance with data handling regulations

You will partner closely with fraud analysts, data scientists, product managers, legal, and engineering leaders across the company to develop roadmaps that protect customers, creators, and the business.
ABOUT THE TEAM
The Fraud Defense Engineering team sits within Audible's inSpire organization and is located across Audible's Newark and Mexico City hubs. We build the tooling, platforms, and automated systems that protect the integrity and trustworthiness of Audible's business for creators, listeners, and customers. Our primary focus is Fraud Defense - engineering the detection mechanisms, investigation tools, and enforcement capabilities that enable defense against Creator Fraud, Anti-Piracy Fraud, and Consumer Fraud across all marketplaces

As a Director of Software Development, you will...
- Lead the engineering team responsible for Fraud Defense (including Anti-Piracy Fraud), Technology Resilience, and Strategic Data Regulation
- Define and execute the technical vision and roadmap for fraud detection, prevention, and investigation platforms
- Design, build, and scale automated systems for identifying and terminating fraudulent accounts, detecting anomalous content, and protecting intellectual property from piracy
- Drive the expansion of Anti-Piracy Fraud capabilities, including takedown operations, content protection tooling, and rights enforcement
- Ensure disaster recovery readiness and resilience across critical production services
- Drive operational excellence, including creation and monitoring of metrics and alarms in an environment of continuous process improvement
- Partner with data science and machine learning teams to develop and operationalize fraud detection models
- Manage day-to-day engineering activities and ensure project plans and delivery commitments are met
- Hire, coach, and mentor high-performing engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, innovation, and inclusion
- Collaborate with product, legal, and business stakeholders to assess fraud risks for new products and ensure regulatory compliance
