Job description

At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what's next.
The Global Content Protection team is seeking an Analyst to join us on the front line of protecting the company's world class content from piracy. With demonstrated content protection experience, this Analyst will analyze media rights, support anti-piracy goals, and implement an effective take down program, including hands-on use of tools on social media platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. We are looking for someone who is business-oriented, able to think outside the box, and comfortable with challenging long-standing assumptions about how to manage IP. They will be highly organized, self-motivated, quick-thinking, flexible, technology-oriented, and able to juggle multiple responsibilities with an unwavering attention to detail. This is a fast-paced role that requires strong business acumen, curiosity, and significant initiative.
In this role, you will work closely with members of the Global Content Protection team, review materials for fair use, engage in the takedown process through DMCA notices and other analogous legal routes, and collaborate with internal and external partners to implement our content protection strategy.
This role will play an important part in the team's overall objective to minimize piracy's impact on our growth. The successful candidate will be highly collaborative, an effective cross-functional communicator, and ready to immediately contribute, with comparable prior experience.
This role reports to the Director, Content Protection, Intellectual Property, and is located in Los Angeles, California.
Job Responsibilities
  • Working alongside the Global Content Protection team to protect local, regional, and global content against piracy, and specifically as it pertains to title-level protection and enforcement strategies.
  • Monitor the content release schedule across multiple territories, staying up to date with upcoming titles, and ensuring the team is briefed and aligned on key releases.
  • Analyzing rights, production, and licensing agreements for content protection-related purposes.
  • Implementing technological content protection measures, and utilizing available tools on social media platforms, such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
  • Coordinating and collaborating with vendors to search for and execute takedown requests of unauthorized content.
  • Assisting with investigations and enforcement escalations, such as those around unauthorized distribution of sensitive or pre-release content, in partnership with our internal security teams.
  • Working with internal business, creative, legal, and policy teams to develop improvements in knowledge sharing.
  • Supporting and advancing our strategy to build and maintain the legal toolkit that safeguards Netflix content.
  • Occasional availability on nights/weekends, if necessary.
  • Maintaining flexibility and openness to take on additional projects as necessary.

Requirements
  • 5+ years experience in a global content protection program, ideally within a media or entertainment company.
  • Solid understanding of IP law, in particular copyright, and proven experience analyzing media rights, production, and licensing agreements. Deep familiarity with production agreements and content deals is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience using content protection tools on social media platforms, such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, and making judgment calls on enforcing against unauthorized uses of IP.
  • Experience handling large-scale datasets using data management and tracking tools (e.g. Airtable), with a strong eye for accuracy and organization.
  • Experience collaborating with a broad set of cross-functional teams to achieve business goals.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and work proactively, independently, and reliably under tight time frames.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly assess, prioritize, and respond to urgent matters.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
