What does a Content Producer do?

A Content Producer is responsible for creating, managing, and overseeing digital content for various platforms such as websites, social media, and video channels. They coordinate the production process, from brainstorming ideas to publishing finished pieces, ensuring the content aligns with the brand’s goals and audience needs. Content Producers often collaborate with writers, designers, videographers, and marketing teams to deliver engaging and high-quality materials. Their role may also include analyzing content performance and adjusting strategies accordingly.

What Is a Content Producer?

A content producer writes blogs, articles, product descriptions, and other information for use on websites. These writers typically research a topic and then produce well-written content, tailoring it to a particular audience. Due to the rapid rate that information is exchanged on the internet, a content producer must be able to produce quality work in a limited amount of time. This is especially true if the topic is related to current events such as news stories, politics, or sporting events. Many content producers also have social media knowledge, and their duties may involve adapting content for various platforms.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Content Producer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Content Producer, you need strong writing, editing, and storytelling abilities, often supported by a degree in communications, journalism, or a related field. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), basic graphic design tools, SEO techniques, and analytics platforms is typically required. Creativity, attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills are crucial soft skills for managing multiple projects and collaborating with teams. These skills ensure the production of engaging, high-quality content that meets audience needs and drives organizational goals.

What is the difference between Content Producer vs Content Writer?

AspectContent ProducerContent Writer
CredentialsRelevant experience, sometimes multimedia skillsWriting samples, journalism or communication background
Work EnvironmentCollaborative teams, multimedia projectsIndividual writing tasks, editorial settings
Industry UsageMedia, marketing, digital contentPublishing, blogging, journalism

Content Producers oversee the creation of multimedia content, including videos, images, and articles, often managing entire projects. Content Writers focus primarily on producing written content, such as articles, blogs, and scripts. While both roles require strong communication skills, Content Producers typically have broader technical and multimedia skills, whereas Content Writers specialize in writing. Understanding these differences helps employers and job seekers target the right roles in digital media and marketing industries.

How does a Content Producer typically collaborate with other team members during a project?

Content Producers work closely with writers, designers, videographers, and marketing teams to bring creative projects to life. They often act as coordinators, ensuring everyone stays on schedule and that the final product aligns with the project's vision and brand guidelines. Regular meetings, feedback sessions, and project management tools are commonly used to streamline communication and address any challenges that arise. This collaborative environment helps ensure content is engaging, accurate, and produced efficiently.

Content Producer

Ketone-IQ

Venice, CA • Remote

$150K - $165K/yr

Full-time

Job description

About Ketone-IQ

At Ketone-IQ, we're revolutionizing the way the world thinks about energy. Our cutting-edge approach to fueling the body transcends conventional expectations, pushing the boundaries of what's possible. We're the trusted choice of elite endurance athletes, special operators, and high performers across diverse fields — from cyclists conquering the Tour de France to EMTs working double shifts on the front lines.

In 2019, our innovative ketone nutritional superfuel caught the attention of the U.S. Department of Defense SOCOM, securing a $6MM contract to power their elite forces. But our ambitions don't stop there. We're on a mission to disrupt the entire energy market, bringing our high-performance fuel to everyone, from professional athletes to busy professionals and active individuals.

Ketone-IQ is High Performance Energy. We’re changing the way people fuel and rapidly expanding as we lead the ketone movement.

The Role

We are seeking a multi-talented Content Producer who is equal parts photographer, videographer, editor, and social media manager. Your primary mission will be to elevate the Ketone-IQ aesthetic.

You will be the creative engine behind our daily visual content, working directly with world class athletes, some of the biggest podcasters on earth, and leading scientists. You will report into our VP of Growth Creative and collaborate closely with our Art Designer.

What You’ll Own

End-to-End Production:

  • Lead photography and videography on-set and in the field, capturing high-end, aspirational lifestyle content featuring athletes, models, and brand partners.

Travel & Field Work:

  • Conduct frequent local shoots around Southern California, travel domestically at least once a month, and travel internationally 2 to 3 times per year (valid passport required).

Sports & Lifestyle Capture:

  • Shoot run-and-gun, fast-paced sports content (such as embedding with elite professional cycling teams), with a heavy emphasis on capturing the premium, aspirational lifestyle surrounding the sport.

High-Profile Interviews:

  • Capture pristine video for long-form and short-form interviews with professional athletes, industry leaders, and world-renowned scientists.

Founder-Led Storytelling:

  • Work closely with CEO Michael Brandt to shoot, produce, and capture compelling founder-led content that tells the story of the Ketone-IQ brand and vision.

Organic Post-Production & Editing:

  • Own the editing pipeline for all organic social content. While our dedicated team of internal editors handles performance ad creation, you will be the sole editor for organic assets, delivering polished photos and videos.

Social Media Management & Consistent Output:

  • Act as the de-facto social media manager. Draft copy, plan the calendar, and maintain a consistent, daily posting cadence on our social channels. Posts don’t always need to be highly complex, but daily consistency is key. Engaging with our community and other brands is a helpful bonus, but your primary focus will be reliable content publishing.

High Performer Traits

  • Exceptional eye for aspirational, premium lifestyle content.

  • Bias for action with the ability to execute quickly.

  • Able to own projects from concept through final post independently.

  • Strong balance of creative instinct and execution discipline.

  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, evolving environments.

  • High ownership mindset with low ego.

Experience & Background

  • 5+ years of professional experience in photography, videography, or content production (portfolio-driven).

  • Strong portfolio, reel, or website demonstrating premium lifestyle content.

  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, Lightroom, and Photoshop.

  • Working knowledge of Canva is a plus.

  • Deep understanding of social media platforms, trends, and editing styles.

  • Ability to independently manage projects in a remote environment.

Equipment & Gear:

  • Experience working with DSLR, mirrorless, or cinema cameras (RED, ARRI, etc).

  • Preferred ownership of a camera package, with the ability to operate it at a high level.

  • Comfort working with and scaling gear setups depending on production needs.

What Makes You a Winner

  • You have an instinct for what feels premium and scroll-stopping.

  • You think like a creator, not just a producer.

  • You move fast and ship consistently without sacrificing quality.

  • You can turn a single shoot into a stream of content.

  • You elevate the brand every time you pick up a camera.
