Job Description:
Our Opportunity
Chewy is seeking a Senior Editor, Automation & Content Optimization to help shape the future of our editorial content across PetMD and Chewy Education. This role sits at the intersection of editorial excellence, data-driven decision-making, and emerging AI capabilities. You'll play a critical role in ensuring our pet health and educational content is timely, discoverable, and optimized for performance across web, email, and social channels.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced editor who thrives in a fast-paced publishing environment, embraces new technologies, and knows how to turn insights into action.
What You'll Do
  • Lead optimization efforts across a large library of pet health and educational content, improving performance in search, email engagement, social distribution, and referral optimization.
  • Partner with SEO, analytics, and marketing teams to identify opportunities and respond quickly to changes.
  • Work closely with product teams and engineering to build AI-powered tools to streamline workflows, identify optimization opportunities, and enhance editorial output.
  • Help develop and reinforce high quality standards that center human expertise in the context of an AI-enabled work flow.
  • Optimize articles, headlines, metadata, formatting, and content structure for SEO, engagement, and conversion to product sales.
  • Collaborate with social and email teams to adapt editorial content for multi-channel distribution.
  • Balance speed and quality, ensuring content updates are accurate, brand-aligned, and trustworthy.

Who You Are
  • 7+ years of experience in digital publishing, editorial, or content strategy, ideally within health, lifestyle, or e-commerce environments.
  • You are highly comfortable working with SEO best practices, including keyword strategy, on-page optimization, and performance analysis.
  • You have hands-on experience with AI tools (e.g., content optimization platforms, generative AI, automation workflows) and understand how to apply them responsibly in an editorial setting.
  • You bring a process orientation and product mindset to the content space.
  • You are data-driven and comfortable using analytics tools to inform decisions.
  • You have a proven ability to move quickly and prioritize effectively, especially in response to real-time traffic or performance changes.
  • You understand how content behaves across multiple channels, including organic search, email newsletters, and social media platforms.
  • You are detail-oriented, with strong editing skills and a commitment to accuracy and clarity.
  • You are collaborative and communicative, able to work cross-functionally with editorial, SEO, product, and marketing teams.

Bonus
  • Experience working with health or veterinary content.
  • Familiarity with content management systems and large-scale content libraries.
  • Experience building or refining automated editorial processes.
  • Understanding of E-E-A-T principles and content quality standards in regulated or trust-sensitive categories.

The base salary range for this role is $100,000 - $160,000.00.
  • The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant. C08+ positions may also be eligible for annual bonus.
