Job description

Turner Brooks is seeking a Project Engineer to join our team and support the successful delivery of our construction projects from estimating through final closeout. As part of our team, you’ll work closely with seasoned Project Managers and Superintendents, gaining hands-on experience while contributing to the day‐to‐day coordination that keeps our jobs moving forward.

In this role, you’ll help manage project documentation, maintain clear communication among team members, and track key project milestones. Your responsibilities will include assisting with submittals, RFIs, and scheduling; participating in site walks and project meetings; and collaborating with trade partners, suppliers, and design professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Support the project team through all phases—from preconstruction to closeout
  • Assist with Project Managers to ensure project objectives on assigned project(s) are meet the requirements of the construction documents
  • Track material quotes, lead times, and deliveries to maintain project schedules
  • Provide bidding assistance and maintain organized project documentation.
  • Help manage submittals, RFIs, closeout documents, and other project management tasks.
  • Verify as‐builts and support quality control and site safety efforts.
  • Assist with project cost tracking and related financial activities.
  • Attend project meetings and prepare notes and support documentation.
  • Join the Project Manager or Superintendent on site walks to monitor progress and identify issues.
  • Learn and use Edge Estimating and/or FloorRight to support bid preparation and skill development.
  • Build knowledge of project management best practices to prepare for future advancement.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or a related field, and/or experience within the Construction Industry (Internship or full-time) is preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment
  • Collaborative approach with clients, design teams, and trade partners
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel; experience with MS Project is a strong plus.
  • Willingness to travel to jobsites within Southeast Michigan with reliable transportation
  • Capable of learning new computer programs for project management and reporting
  • Experience reading specifications and blueprints preferred.
  • BIM and/or AutoCAD knowledge is a strong plus
